This person had been on my friends list for a few years then today starts spamming me dodgy links. I assume they had their account stolen themselves.

This is just more of a heads up to anyone that gets random links, obviously never click on them and just report them to Steam.

This has been out for too long that Valve has done nothing about. Basically, click the link, you'll download a file which may be run, run it and it'll infect your computer sending a message to all your friends saying "WTF Dude? -link-" or "want to trade this for this?", etc. Check your chat logs with friends if you clicked the link and you'll know if you're infected unless you haven't received a barrage of angry messages sending out those links. If I were you, I wouldn't report everyone that sends out the link as a phisher and ruin their account because of a Trojan and should actually TRY help them out. Malwarebytes.Their account is not stolen. The Trojan would either steal your items or hijack your account at a later time, but he's definitely not hijacked. :P

Lately, it's saying "Hi bro see this ahahahaha" and then the link. Was sent this by three different people, today.

It's like Vampirism, if they steal someones account it becomes a bot too.

It's more like zombies, they eat your brain (steal your item) and then you become a zombie too
