Don't really see what any of those questions have to do with animation, but sure.

You should check out the Daedalus Project by Nick Yee, he covers a wide variety of psychological based topics including addiction as they pertain to MMOs. I actually used to participate when it was still running from time to time :P

I wrote quite a bit, hope that helps :)
I'm no expert or anything, but I do read a lot.

Interesting topic, and one that I've questioned myself about before. Good luck with your paper! :]

To be honest, that clip is desperately sad. How does a child end up like that?

There is a whole series of a TV program when doctors/psychiatrists/physiotherapists are trying to help children to battle their addictions or some disorders or strange behavior. And that kid is from that popular in Ukraine TV show. At the end it was admitted that actual;y it was bad parenting, because though there was help from doctors, but mum couldn't manage to spend some quality time (she spent with both her children time in front of TV) with her kids or it was suggested to start some kind of project together (they built a child size doll and that kid would punch it in order to release aggression). But it wasn't finished. Also, he went to gym and swimming pool and found it very interesting and entertaining, but mum didn't let him go or just didn't drove there. So, as I discussed with one guy in a thread about censorship, we make conclusion that all is related to bad parenting (for kids).

Thanks. I hadn't heard of this programme. It's very sad when a kid ends up like that. Sometimes the parents have done everything they can for the child, yet there are still behavioural issues despite their best efforts. Other times it's neglect/lazy or selfish parenting, and the kid was never given a fair chance. I don't know which of those two scenarios saddens me more TBH...

Oh, actually it was from Ukrainian version of ''Honey, We're Killing the Kids''. SO it's even better - all program related to bad parenting :) Yeah, well, being a parent is thought. But there always be some low IQ "donkeys" and there still be children which stands no chance of proper things and etc. Well, but that's a wide problem :( I have one example in my family too and we can't do anything about it because that child's mum thinks it's OK and good ( child spents all his free time in front of PC, and he is pale because he just doesn't go outside and play (for 4 years now)). And what can you do? Call child services? But in my counbtry they do not act as like that. family should be abusive or asocial and then actions might be taken...

Hey Guys! If you have a spare few minutes could you please fill in my questionnaire on games addiction, its for my 3rd year dissertation at university where i study animation.
EDIT ONE
I've taken the link down now due to having hit the 100 mark! (now i have to try and find as many non gamers -.-) Thanks SO much for all your answers, i really didn't expect to get this many and especially so fast. Been reading through your answers and i got some really in depth and thought out answers, i cant thank you all enough!
I'll try and get the results up for those who were interested in the next few days, although this depends how quickly i can get answers from people who don't play games.
Can anyone think of a way i can get answers from non-gamers?
