I had them too. Completed book, completed Pokemon Red Cart, completed Pokemon Blue Cart, Completed Diary of captures... and I was in my mid 20's... I was working for a videogame store in south Sydney, It was a job requirement... Kids would come in and we'd charge $3 for a trade to and from (to get it back) so they could complete their Pokedex. Except those (like Graveler) who would evolve via link - I had to catch so many Geodudes to keep up.
I still have my Red cart in my desk lol. My kids got into them last year and I caught my 6 year old just as he was about to wipe my game and start his own. I have no idea where he found my old GBA...

What was that activity related? My favorite sale of all time was the 2014 2011 winter sale (the coal sale) that you had to do activities in a few selected games to earn stuff. It was so fun! I always hoped that they'd bring it back someday.

Exactly! I hope Valve found a way to do it again without the easy exploits. It's a pitty that a lot of people ruined it for all of us by using programs to unlock achievements in order to get more coal/profit. :/

It's only up to Valve. As i remember atleast during Summer Sale 2014 you could earn several cards by participating in team mini-game (simple for crafting badges), so as i'm not rushing for level up i always wait for similar to happend again.
"Everyone is randomly assigned to a team when they click the "Join a Team" button above or when they craft a badge. Your points count toward your team’s daily total.
Crafting the Summer Adventure Badge gets you:
Summer Adventure Badge - 10 points
Summer Adventure Foil Badge - 100 points
