What is your stance on the Pc master race? Do you support it, or are you even in it?

I'm a pc gamer myself, and I hate consoles not because of the constat stupid jokes we make about them, but because of stupid devs and companies focusing all their efforts and resources on that shitty market, when PC was, is and will always be superior in every regard.
I know consoles sell more due to parents spoiling their kids by getting them every single game they want, but fuck that, focus your shit on PC, then port to consoles, not the other way around.

I used to play a lot of consoles before i got my first PC, and, to tell the truth, i was happy with that.

I had a PSX, and a PS2 before i got a PC that could handle some nice games.

To tell the truth, i was buying pirated games all the time, but it was so common that i never knew about it, i always though that all console games were "$10 x 3" (argentinian pesos) after i knew about it, i wanted to get some original games, but i coulnd't find a single store that sells them, our country wasn't that famous with the gaming companies at that time, all we had was imported from other countries and you had to travel to the center of our country in order to find some original copy of something, and that was a long journey, like 4 hours to get there and go back.
Time went on, PS3 out, 2 years later i finally got one for myself, at that time i already had my PC, a bunch of F2P games to play, and even an Steam account to buy some games on sales. After i got my PS3, it came with a game, cool, played it a lot, but i wanted more, my country began to get attention of companies, more games came, so i could easily get them, but i was surpriced about the price, i don't really know by the time how much was the dollar with out currency, but i guess an average game was like, 60 dollars, or so, i wouldn't want to pay that much for a game, so i bought a PS+ membership for a year, it was nice, i got DMC, and other cool games, but after that, most of the games were indies that Steam would sell for 5 dollars, or a few ones for 20 dollars, it wasn't as cool as i expected, so i just wanted to play with my PC.

To make it short, i like console games, but they are too expensive compared with Steam, if PS+ could give more exclusive games i would choose console, but they dont do it, on an economic way, i choose PC, i even can get access to emulators to play some of my old console games on my PC if my console is broken or useless.

You can tag me as a pirate, a cheap bastard, or whatever, but the games i bought on Steam gave me more enjoyment per $ than the console games. Oh and yeah, i just got a PSX, PS2, and PS3, enjoyed the hell out of my PSX and PS2 on pirated copies becouse i had hard access to original games, and the PS3 is not giving me as much enjoy, since i cannot choose the game i want without cheching the price 5 times, and thinking "i'll wait for Steam to have it on a real discount" and if its exclusive, well, too bad for me.

Regardless of what phrase you use, modern consoles are effectively hardware-limited and software-locked PCs. Any controllers or peripherals could also be connected to a PC, and a PC can also be very easily connected to a TV.

The only advantage consoles have is console-exclusive games; but that's not an advantage at all, just deals that console manufacturers make so that their platforms remain relevant at all.

PCs and consoles are completly different. Consoles are something you use to play games, watch movies (you have the TV for that), and browse the internet (who does that on a console...). PCs are for gaming too, but you can also use them for a million things more. Of course it'll cost more to run big games, but the quality is better than console games (and we all know that's true) and the performance is also better depending on the PC.
I personally don't have any console and I wouldn't buy one even if it was something like a PS4 for $200, it just doesn't catches my attention.

I don't know, I'm pretty much neutral. I sometimes throw that line to joke around with my friends, but that's all. No bad intention.

I don't think I'll ever own a console.
Though I rather hate the "PC Master Race" meme because there are tons of game I actually would like to play on consoles and because they often have much more originality and class in their exclusives (thanks mostly to jap console exclusivity) whereas PC exclusives are generally just graphically superior versions of games PC has always dominated like RTS and in the past FPS without much new design input (compare WPRG and JRPG monster designs for instance, even something like the much lauded series like The Witcher didn't really give me anything new to kill) ....and there's tons of trash on PC that never saw the light of day on consoles, well until the XOne and PS4's indie programs which are bringing 8-bit hell to the masses big-time (just look at E3).

I'm sorry but how are the pc "exclusives" unoriginal in comparison!? Pc is the land of the indie devs where anything is possible and anything goes. Not entering on the wholle pc rules thing just saying that pc "exclusives" are the most creative games around yet.

I'm sorry but anything that's 8 or 16 bit or looks like crud is automatically disqualified, they're even less original than each iteration of CoD. It's been a long time since I've been wowed by anything indie, they're just wannabe's copying the latest big thing and pretending like having DOS/NES graphics automatically makes them better than sex. Indie hype is so overrated these days, it might have been true 3 or so years ago but now it's almost exclusively shovelware with the only stuff that's not being stuff that brings together the best of other games but isn't really original in it's own right.

Trying to do new things with flawed old mechanics doesn't make a game original, it just makes it bad.

So you eliminate great games because the people that made them could not draw or do 3D modeling? That's pretty bad, considering the tons of great "8 or 16 bit games" have come out in recent years.

Also if you consider games that don't have good graphics to be disqualified..... I don't know man, that's pretty sad.

Kids these days....

I'm not a kid and that's precisely the problem. That days of 8-bit and 16-bit graphics are behind me, I've been there I've done that, I've experienced every possible mechanic they had to offer and I have no desire to go back. All I want now is to experience new and ever-improving mechanics. If I want something inferior then I'll either go back and play the infinitely superior Enix and Square titles from back in the day or I'll play a handheld game.

Hotline Miami really isn't so special if you've already experienced the joy and frustration of top-down shooters back in the day in games like the first two GTAs.
And the same goes for all the other games people harp on about, they either offer an identical platform experience to games of old, just with a new story, or they force new mechanics into old systems creating horribly hap-hazard gameplay that never should have existed or they copy past successful indie titles trying to steal their thunder.

No, the only time I'm impressed with an Indie title is when it manages to transcend being an indie title, I mean when it has the feel and polish of an AAA one despite being indie. Something like the first Torchlight, or Hoard or Sideways - New York but those games are very few and far between and often aren't even all that original, just very classy and polished.

You keep saying mechanics but you are talking about the shinies. 8bit and 16bit graphics have nothing to do with the mechanics behind a game and could conceivably offer something completely new.

As for indie exclusive (or it was until recently) Don't Starve. That is a very original and high quality indie game.

No, I'm talking about the mechanics as well, the way of movement and the hitboxes etc, they're just plain bad on games using that tech. Too floaty, too inaccurate, too slow etc. it's always about compensating for flawed mechanics and/or graphics in those games (and that's where a lot of their complexity comes from too). And I've been there and done that as I said, and I have no desire to go back.

I'm done with 8-bit super-static and hard-to-control Megaman, what I want now is Mighty No.9 or better.

Don't Starve highlights a different part of the problem btw, I'm not into horror and/or survival games at all so I automatically don't care about any indies in that genre, nor do I care about the AAA ones though.

Sounds more like an opinion on a genre then a problem....

I just meant that if I don't like horror and/or survival games then I'm hardly going to find original concepts or innovation among them since I won't touch them.
Too me they're all as stale and unoriginal as the last one and they're hardly going to convince me that indie titles are very original and innovative.

Also if Don't Starve is that good that means there are 20 new titles on Greenlight now which mostly copy it and try to steal it's thunder whilst being woefully inferior. So despite it's best intentions it's added to the indie shovelware out there, just like Minecraft and Terraria (which is already a Minecraft copy more or less) did.

Terraria which I don't like isn't really a copy of Minecraft(Which was copied from I forget which game) which I also don't like, its more of a collection of games splattered into one.

Don't starve is actually fun and the devs aren't dicks, update the game a lot with free stuff, all around nice presentation by them.

Sure some games copy but copying is actually how we advance, look at history, it holds true pretty much always. We copied birds to create planes for example...

But yeah many people just straight out rip games, thats not cool.

I personally only ever had the Wii as a console, and I must admit I had a blast with it. Didn't use it for too long, eventually going back to my good ol' PC games. Honestly, Nintendo consoles are the only ones that catch my attention lately, mostly due to their games: Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire, Smash Bros. and what not.
However, I'm also deeply in love with many indie games which are mostly on PC only. And if I ever want to play with a controller I can just plug it into the computer, so I never even bothered considering getting a PlayStation or Xbox.

I personally see it as a joke, harmless fun, like when your a support a different sport team than your mate and poke fun at him when his team loses. And i like to think that everyone else sees it like that.

I own a PC i dont own any console and i have no interest it ownning one, playing with a keyboard and mouse and close to my screen just feels right for me.

I think it's stupid to put down other gamers just because of their choice of where they game. Consoles and PCs both have their advantages and disadvantages and awesome exclusives. If there really is to be any sort of master race, it would be the people who understand that the important thing is having fun and it doesn't matter what platform it is as long as you are having fun.
