Can I reject a key I won without having penalty because I entered by mistake?

Yes, just say in comment to it you're agreeing to reroll winner, preferably without opening key.

Worse case you can offer it up in your own roll.
Accidents happen, but if they aren't accepting your refusal, then they cant force you otherwise either.
I'd like to think atleast

If you mean "make your own GA" then no, you cant do that.

Gifts you win must be activated on the Steam account you used to register. Do not regift, trade, or sell the gifts.

Even if they accidentally entered, and got refused their refusal?
Seems like it'd just be backing someone into a corner.

My probably wrong understanding is that unless the creator wants the feedback. They can just leave giveaway to state where it is delivered. But the winner can not mark it not received as this would be "Misuse of Giveaway Feedback".

Thus they would have open win and be prevented from joining the giveaway. Then if on later date they activate or buy the key I suppose the creator could request feedback...

I don't see why anyone would refuse a reroll, but even in that case, you could probably just write to support.

Nope, support won't action it, the reroll request MUST come through the creator.

Best you will get is a message from staff saying no can do, must get creator to create the ticket.

I don't know why you thought it would be okay to take a key and use it as your own giveaway to boost your level and cv. You'd have to prove ownership of it in your steam account or get suspended. Your account is older than most people here. Come on now.

I haven't been online in like almost 10 years lmfao
And when how much this site has declined, I honestly couldn't care any less about their policies.
Every game being offered is crap, and self-promotions at this point. So yeah.
If you read my other comments, I've already stated. if the person refuses someone's reroll, then all rights forfeit, I'd reroll it myself if that's the case screw the petty people who can just reroll it.
Anyways, someone already stated a valid solution. But yeah.

I'm pretty much done with with this site lol.

So you logged in after 10 years, just to give another user the suggestion to break the sites rules, because you're still salty after all these years you're not some mega winner of every AAA giveaway on here, and that somehow makes life unfair for you and you've decided you're going to make your own rules, and spread propaganda and try to get other users in trouble?

I also find it interesting you believe the site has declined, and your response to that is to encourage the decline you so much seem to not like about it.

"if the person refuses someone's reroll, then all rights forfeit, I'd reroll it myself if that's the case screw the petty people who can just reroll it."

A GA owner could refuse to re-roll if the key has been revealed for instance, because they'd have no proof whether you've done something with it or not. That's more than reasonable. Even if it isn't revealed, you are supposed to enter for what you want, and understand that winning a giveaway makes the winner responsible to activate on their account. If you can reason with the GA owner for him to re-roll because it was your mistake and you didn't want the game, that's fine and chill, but if they decline, you should activate to your own acc, or take an activation hit. At no point is the gifter even slightly at fault for refusing to re-roll. You are supposed to enter for what you want. If you believe the game is a pile of crap, don't enter. I don't enter giveaways for human excrements because I don't need/want/care to have that.

"I'm pretty much done with with this site lol."

You've been done with it for 10 years, not sure why you ever thought it was a good idea to return if that was your opinion of it.

PS: I looked at your profile, was that 1 giveaway you made sent to your own account? Private group ga, 1 entry, the user the won it has a single entry, never entered any other ga's. Did you by any chance try to raise your level by gifting to your alt, saw it wasn't gonna happen, got upset, so sg must suck because you can't exploit it that easy?(not that it's hard, cause all you gotta do is make 6 accts).

Do the creator have to accept winner refusing giveaway?

Permalink

I don't think they have to, but in that case the key will stay in limbo until the time limit passes and it qualifies for an auto reroll.

wait, winner can be rerolled automaticaly without giver's input after some time?

No.

to expand, if you leave it for a week without claiming or opening it's considered fair for an auto reroll but in that case too, the creator has to ask for it and it will get approved. though admittedly that doesn't necessarily mean, the creator HAS to reroll, but in that case as mentioned the key will remain in limbo

I think the confusion comes from the word "auto", which implies rerolls happen automatically, without GA-maker input.

Can't think of the good reason not to? Whether they HAVE TO is hard to say

They are not very good reasons, but I can imagine someone refusing "because it's annoying to ask for a reroll" or "to punish people who enter GAs carelessly".

chance is nowhere near that high... most gifters would rather it go to someone who wants it and won't penalize someone for requesting a reroll.

Well I had someone who wrote that they had a key already and shouldn't have entered. Though claimed my key and passed their key to someone who commented on the giveaway... Don't think it's blacklist worthy if they asked for a reroll. (if they didn't already claim/open the key)

Eh, it takes 10 seconds to ask for a reroll if the winner politely refused the game AND never viewed the key.
It's annoying when people enter for DLC they already have (and asking for 4-5 rerolls in a row) but with games it's pretty simple process. Bots and autojoiners unlikely to refuse anything, so in my book it's generally a mistake, or a change in choices.

(I refused games where I forgot I have a key for it stashed, or when I got multiple games as a gift and idk... I felt overwhelmed with a great win I just wouln't have enjoyed or planned to play after getting so many gifts. Wanted to give that chance to someone else)

I give to TalePlay/Playing Appreciated and would rather the winner ask for a re-roll than the game go to someone that doesn't want it.

Participating in SG's forums is the best way to get blacklisted. If you don't want to be blacklisted, best never to comment on the forum.

But where's the fun in that!

Maybe not, as you have to make the game or key as received or not received.

If you don't want to win those games, then stop applying to giveaways for the games you don't want.

Just because you have 400 points to use and enter giveaways per day, doesn't mean you have to use them all.

Be selective with the giveaways you enter.

I used to join almost every single giveaway I could: not anymore.

Why is that?

Because if I win, the shame and the responsibility to accept and play that game, is on me (not anybody else).

At the end of the day, all of it will count towards your CV ratio, so make sure to be selective about it (the giveaways you join and create), to not give anyone else the opportunity to backfire at you.

CV ratio is important only for people in some groups, joining giveaways through sgtools or something similar. Casual users probably don't care, unless I'm forgetting something where it's important

That's precisely what I'm talking about.

Whether or not play the games you won, you know you've just got yourself into "debt" and you owe to give something back to the community (or at least, you are morally "forced" to play the games you won).

When you pass the 3 month mark and are level 2, I'd encourage you to join TalePlay. Wins from there you are specifically required to play, and for that it's often easier to win games you want

There you go again, trying to tell people how to use this site after being a member for less than a month yourself. I don't think your tone is justified.

I also fail to understand where your idea that OP enters random giveaways all the time in an attempt to use up their points comes from. That's not what I gather from what they wrote.

That isn't a false positive. I think they've received the wrong game. SG doesn't think the remake version is the same as the original one because they have different app IDs.
Maybe they could mark the giveaway as not received or ask the creator to change the giveaway game.

The game they won: VirtuaCreature

The game they have: VirtuaCreature (Legacy Version)

Be care about using scripts and external sites to determine inactivated gifts, they’re not very reliable.

Just apologize to the GA maker, don't reveal the key, and ask for a reroll. There's slight chances you'll get BL'd but it happens.
