Ready for school?
I was a scientist before, and in Germany you make more money as a teacher than in science.

There are a couple of schools with Dutch classes along the german side of the border. As far as I know, they always look for people teaching Dutch.

There are good and bad teachers, no correlation if they've worked another job before.

Yes it is when you want to have family and support and feed those kids xD

Are you THAT sure every family has two working parents?
Nevertheless, sadly, yes. We do live in a capitalistic septic pool owned by money-grabbing leeches.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like everyone to just be able to do whatever they love to do, it's just that it is highly impossible in today's world.
But, as you may know, today's world FORCES you to make money your highest priority...

I'm from Eastern EU and even 2 parents are working (which here is not easy to have), they still barely have money to pay for the expenses for their kid (and we have no scholarship). If only 1 parent is working, it's rocket science to survive the month without getting into debt.

I hope so. I try to get the curriculum connected to students' interests. Done some e-sports related math, will do some CS spray patterns olympic archery statistics.

Damn, we had a classmate in a similar situation, couldn't come to school for about half a year, but he managed to pass in the end. Good luck with that by the way!
Just one more year, but finding a job and a place or going to college is what stresses me out because I really don't want to go to college and I can't find a good job here unless I move to some bigger city.

I went to a high school profile that focuses on maths & programming, so I'm probably going to go on programming or something related to economics. There's some sort of academy available in a few countries called Academy Plus and it's somewhat close to me, and it's a free and fun-sounding alternative to college, so maybe I'll try for that if my parents insist with further education.
But to be honest, I'd rather ditch all that and become a truck driver. No sarcasm at all.

It doesn't cost much more than getting a driving license, I just need to get an extra permit besides that, as far as I know. But even though over here you can do most things after turning 18, I think I can only get that permit when I'm 20 or 21.
My dad is a truck driver and so are 3 out of 4 of my uncles, and so was my grandad, so I don't think they'd be that much against it :)
I also thought about trying to get a job at the EA or Ubisoft that are in Romania, but I feel like that would be too difficult for me.

In that case i think you could easily become a truck driver. Just have to wait a little bit. I think that getting a job at EA or Ubisoft would be more of a hassle then waiting a few years and getting a license. Maybe tell your dad about it and search for a job till then. If they insist on studying you could always do the Academy Plus.

Well the next door kids have been screaming and crying all summer like it was an Olympic event. So I'm quite happy they are doing that in school now :P
I mainly like that the worst part of summer is over (I hope). I'm really not good with the heat.

I don't intend to go for a phd, so I doubt I will ever have another first day of school. I am hoping for a first day of work soon though. Good luck with school.

Long and tedious, mix with a terrified feeling of not knowing what to do after I get my bachelor's degree.

Bump, thank you.
I haven't started yet but I'm not looking forward to it. I hate tests and exams, and it's really going to ramp up this year.
I hope you have a great school year :).
