What do you think about the last sentence? I really hope it means there'll be a cool event (something like the Summer Camp + Holiday Sale 2011) during the sales with trading cards involved.

Making trading cards available to all Steam users is a step towards an event we think everyone can be excited about...

I might keep my remaining cards and buy cheap cards for more badges to level up. So my booster packs chances get higher

Unless the cards somehow play in the sale. You know ... like someone over here said.

I suspect that they will give at least a week for the people who aren't in beta to get cards. We have a head start.

Well, exactly. Sell the cards now, and you will have enough money to buy them again two times over when the beta ends.

I keep all my cards. I'll just keep collecting to complete badges. So for me the value doesn't matter

Card prices are already dropping like crazy.

Because people think the prices will drop everyone tries to get rid of their cards resulting in a price drop already.

Also, the cards we got now on the beta are series 1. Probably after the beta card drops will be series 2?

Thats what I think, if that happens prices may go up. Still no big loss if it doesnt happen.

I think series 2 will appear when no more games will want to be part of steam cards. Since Valve won't get money they will start it from scratch.

Damn, that probably means one more week of not-that-good sales (they are not bad, just not... typical higher-profile midweek/weekend sales).
Would be surprising to see Valve missing an occasion like 4th July to either end or start Summer Sale. And since summer sale would take more then a week I guess there's no chance for it starting next week.

I posted in another thread last time, but historically the Summer Sale has always started on a Thursday and near the end of June to the beginning of July:

  • Steam Summer Sale 2010 Start: Thursday June 24, 2010
  • Steam Summer Sale 2011 Start: Thursday June 30, 2011
  • Steam Summer Sale 2012 Start: Thursday July 12, 2012

So this year, it's likely to be either June 27th or July 4th. Given that the trading cards is ending on Wednesday 26th, I reckon the Summer Sale will start the next day.
