A lot of the games that are regularly given away here are games with no community, which people who love are trying to jumpstart through large numbers of giveaways (and which the devs are trying to jumpstart by offering discounts or putting them in bundles, which leads to more giveaways.)
Starvoid and Nexuiz are the same way (well, I know about Starvoid; I've heard it's the same way for Nexuiz.)

I'm aware of this, I was just wondering if they were trying to breathe more life into a dying community or trying to revive a dead one, if you know what I mean

Seriously, the forums for the game have been dead for months. There are a few posts now that it's been on sale, but is there anyone who actually played it before the sale? Was it even possible to get into a game? Because if not, then there's no point buying it because it'll be dead again in a week or two.
I don't expect anyone to know, but I'm pretty sure if I post in any other forums, either no one will respond or only people who started playing this week will notice.
