So I loved Stardew Valley and was hyped when I heard the developer was going to do a multiplayer patch, but since the news of that patch last year, we're still waiting. Do you think that patch will ever come? I would be willing to pay for DLC at this point. How about you guys?

The giveaway ended. Thanks for entering and grats to Bolger for winning my copy of Stardew Valley! [https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/Wwpcz/stardew-valley]

You need to consider, it's only one person who's working on this, not long ago he released the game on other consoles!
So he needs time. I'm pretty sure he still working hard but again time. :]

The console release was not done by him but he outsourced it to other devs who specialize in that. There was zero work on his part for console release.

Well, finding other devs and hiring them and probably being reported to on their progress if that was the least he did does count as work you know.

Ouch!

I'm confused by your remark. The Switch version is scheduled for Summer 2017, so it's not too far away.

When will that be?

Probably no later than September. Currently there isn't an exact date.

The multiplayer part isn't being made solely by him, Chucklefish is helping. I think the PC version will have multiplayer still this year. Thanks for the giveaway!

Do you have a source that shows his publisher is helping him with multiplayer?

http://blog.chucklefish.org/stardew-valley-porting-multiplayer-mode/

As fans of Stardew Valley ourselves, weā€™re super excited about this! Weā€™re working with Sickhead Gamesā€‹ on Mac and Linux ports, and our very own Tom Coxon ā€“ developer of Lennaā€™s Inception and a programmer on Starbound ā€“ is leading the project, as well as developing co-op multiplayer for Stardew Valley.

I just bought it and haven't played yet but how would multiplayer work in a game like that? Just sending stuff to other cities to sell?

That is an excellent question and one that only the dev and maybe his publisher would know the answer to at this time. There has been no information or updates in this regard so it's anybody's guess :-/

There was a beta video from early builds with multiplayer. It becomes a coop game. You and other person help each other with the farm.

There's also a multiplayer mod working, with similar multiplayer. However, very rudimentary. You can read about it into the Official Steam thread too.

Wait... the YouTube video from Concerned Ape was Published on Feb 5, 2013!!! That's before the game even released by like 3 years. Have you tried the multiplayer mod? I'm wondering if it's worth getting so I can play with my buddies.

The multiplayer idea was being developed. It stops so he could concentrate into the main game. It was postponed to improve rhe rest. The mod is very bugged as far as I see, but I don't have the game yet, so I didn't tried. Worth the try, but I'll wait the real deal.

imho, it needs more single-player content. I'm thirsty for more new content. That aside, I think multiplayer would come later maybe in October or so.
