This makes it look as if the season pass would only cost 2$ (in € the base game is 5,99€ and the GOTY costs 9,99€, so 4€ more). And still the season pass costs 7,49€ at 70% off as if the base game was worth only 2,50€. I'm waiting for a good deal on the season pass, because I want to have the game complete before playing it, but this is something that bugs me. Why not give the season pass the same discount as base game and GOTY?

I feel cheated, GOG does convert $9.99 to EUR and for me it's 8.29 EUR..
Steam gives me the price at 9.99 EUR.. no convertion

Interesting, it seems the GOTY edition on Steam doesn't include the 3 soundtracks DLCs?
yep, my records show I purchased it back in Jan '20 on steam, but I don't own the OSTs, on GOG it clearly says the GOTY edition has the soundtracks. pity.

Worth buying and according to this you get the updated version for free https://steamcommunity.com/app/292030/eventcomments/2950376208534703962 . Payed 15$ for the GOTY and spent 184 hours doing every quest I could find. Only death march achievement left.

Was thinking about buying it, but already bought dlc to Rise of the Tomb raider, so out of funds for now. I hope it will come to the Summer sale, so I could buy it then.

Worth mentioning, both Witcher 1 and 2 are 85% off, so if you buy Witcher 3 (whichever version), you can get them at 86,5% off (10% bundle discount). https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/727/The_Witcher_Trilogy/

I took the GOTY on steam 9.99E, playing a little bit, I'm at level 3 :) So far it's a good game :D

Since they announced that we will get an upgrade for witcher 3, I wonder if they will just simply divide everything (if you have base game you get base game+new base game, if you have goty you get goty+new goty) or they will do something like they did with skullgirls (even if you have base game you still get the new base game with dlcs). I am more inclined for the first theory but if it's the second buying the base game only would be more convenient.

The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game.
From the link you posted.
edit : reread your comment - misunderstood what you meant at the start. My bet is that you will get update to the core of the game instead of content. So I doubt you would get DLCs when getting update. Similar like euro truck simulator 2 is getting a rework done to the game. They are reworking how the game runs - lighting, sounds etc, but content is still sold as DLC, which seems logical because they don't really change anything related to content of the game itself.

Yeah guessed so. But since they said they will release as both a standalone purchase as well as a free update for everyone I kinda hoped for the second option since so many games already had the treatment of "if you have the old version, you will get both versions in your library" and that could led to sometimes get the other content for free too. What a pity, well I guess I will buy the goty version then. Thanks!

All in one package came to my mind as well, but I can't imagine how that would work in such a scenario. As a standalone purchase probably easily - but if they are offering an update to existing entry in the store that would mean they would have to change how it's sold now.
I suppose there could be something similar to how Skyrim was updated.. all the DLC were put into one package.. can't remember how they did it though ? Bought it myself when it was already a special edition.
but now that you mention it, they could do it by giving another copy with new edition in the library. Not the first time that would happen..
Edit - bought the goty edition myself 3 or 4 weeks ago and I don't regret a bit. What are the prices for you ? seems wierd goty is twice the price of base game.. I am getting 9.99 EUR .. as I said in my comment previously here I feel cheated that in dollars it's 9.99 as well. But at least it's not over 10 eur.... is it for you ?

Skyrim offer was that if you get the Legendary edition (so skyrim+all dlc) you would get the special edition, if you even missed one you wouldn't get it. But they usually tell you that before hand if you need all the dlc, so that's strange.
Also I said "nearly" double the price, since base is 5,99EUR and goty is 9,99EUR, so it's 60% base - 40% DLCs so nearly double. It's only 4EUR more but every little penny is useful on steam, some of my most liked games I bought were around 1EUR so I see it like 4 EUR as 4 good old games.

Base game is now at a new historical low of $7.99 and the Game of the Year Edition goes for $9.99.
Steam: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt / The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition
GOG: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt / The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition
