Advise Me..

Hey, I'm new so be nice. I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but I would like some advice. I came across this in the FAQ:

If it's been more than 24 hours since the giveaway ended try and add the giveaway host to Steam and remind them to send the gift.

I was just wondering what you guys do in these situations? I don't want to pester anybody, as its only been 5 days! I added them on Steam but would honestly feel weird reminding someone to send me a gift. Maybe I just don't know how to go about it? What d'you do, hotshot?

He got 7 days if you didn't get the gift after 7 days report.

Do not add him. Wait for him to contact you/check your mail frequently. If 7 days passes, mark not received and try to move on with your life.

I imagine most would prefer a poke instead of getting nailed with a not receive, stuff comes up, people get distracted, accordians have babies.

What I did was wait for 7 days, then added him and asked him a few questions.
The person told me that he ain't gonna give me the gift, so I got him banned 'n' all was happy!

I think that you should wait those 7 days, and after that try to add him and ask him what happened. If he refuses to give you the gift, report him. Also blacklisted.

Best advice: Wait the full 7 days, add the person on Steam, report it to SG staff if you don't get the gift/any reply from the giveaway creator.

I've actually had people block me on Steam when trying to send them a game that they've won... People are weird sometimes. :S

Bump for thanks... I'd feel weird pestering someone for a free gift. Would wait the full seven days, and try to ignore that you won banner... :)

Thanks for the replies, guys. Hope I don't come off as impatient. I just wanted to make sure I knew the protocol. Judging from their 2 hours of playtime this week its almost as if they actually have things to do :/

But that's te thing, you're not impatient, you've waited several days. I mean every gifter should know the fucking rules of steamgifts, if a gift has not been sent after 7 days then they should GTFO.
I have the same problem right now, I waited over 7 days, still no gift. Now I added them and let's see what happens.

Oh wow,your comment is depressing. They are supposed to give you the game, but nobody is putting a GUN to their head to GIFT you the game. GIFT.... SteamGIFTS. I personally wouldn't send you the game if you won one of my giveaways based on that comment alone

Based on my comment to follow the rules? Yeah good luck with that. There's a REASON why you can mark a gift as not received after 7 days of silence. Please go read the rules.

yes indeed, and it would be my decision whether to gift a game or not. You would not get the game, I would received a "not received" mark on my account and that's about it. You don't get insta-banned for not gifting a game, "SoulNibbler"

We just see this from different points of view. As I see in your history of your wins, you received all of your gifts. I won 14 giveaways in total and didn't get anything in 2 cases. The same seems to happen again, as I haven't heard from the gifter in 9 days, I even added them and asked, no answer. It's just annoying. You're right, it says SteamGIFTS. But I think you're missing the point of the emphasis on gifts. No gifts, no reason for this site.
Another case is that one of my recent winners doesn't respond to my messages regarding sending him his key, because his email address is not correct. I sent him an invitation on Steam, but again, no response. Why are people like this? This system is so easy. Win games, get games. Make giveaways, give games. That's what the rules are about. I'm sorry that you think it shouldn't be this way.

It should be that way, but it isn't, that's what I'm saying. You're clinging on hope too much and get angered over it. Maybe the gifter is sick, busy with IRL, made a fake giveaway, doesn't know the rules, has no idea how the site works, died (oh lawdy nooh!).

They're just free games in the end so be happy when you receive, mark as not received when you don't and move on :P You'll get the game eventually.
