Yes, yes, and I've won about seven games in my five months using the site. It took me about... two months before I won my first game? And then I had a pretty good streak for that month where I won like five giveaways. I've got all the luck.

They never made the FAQ more visible past a sticky, but here it is since you missed it.
It should answer all of your questions.

One of my friends won a gift the first time he ever entered. Some have won less frequently. I've won three gifts in about 2700 entries I believe. It depends on what you're entering. Your odds will increased in group giveaways and contributor giveaways and dev giveaways.

Hi DojoDog74, thanks for joining. Yep, those contributor giveaways work exactly as you mentioned. If a user gifts a $10.00 game, and it's marked received by the winner, they can join contributor giveaways up to $10.00. The only exception are games that were available in indie bundles, and their prices are calculated a little differently (read more).
If you're only entering giveaways with 500 entries, you'd expect to win roughly 1 out of 500. However, we run a lot of private giveaways in our group chat and on the forum through puzzles. Also, a number of communities and users run giveaways for Steam groups. Private and group giveaways typically have 30x less entries, so they allow for better odds of winning.

Yeah Contributor giveaways (the one with the green little number) require you to have given away a certain amount of games that totaled to the amount it says. You don't need to only give away Steam Codes, there's also Gifts btw :P
A few things:
If you don't win anything in 1 week - 4 months don't complain on the forums.

There's a nice statistic page where you can see cool stuff
As your questions have already been answered I'd say that I've received 10 games so far, mostly from group or private giveaways. You will start to "statistically" win when you reach the average number of entries on giveaways in your giveaway count.
Welcome! And if you have any other doubts I'd suggest you read the FAQ or use the forums to solve it (Don't forget about the search function :-P )

Yeah, what other people said and be nice and participate in the forum, don't complain about the contributor value, don't complain about not winning and use the search function before create threads.
I wish you good luck here and hope you win (and give ;)) a game soon!

Hello all!
I just learned about this site yesterday. I'm really excited about the give and receive system on here. I plan on contributing to the community as soon as I have something to offer.
I have a couple of questions about the site and the way the system works:
I noticed that some of the giveaways are for contributors only. I assume this is for people who have already contributed Steam codes to the community? The price amount also seen next to these contributor giveaways (I'd also assume) is how much you need to have given away in Steam codes to participate?
And just a general question since I don't know how long this site has been around: how many gifts have people received and how long did it take for some of you to start winning? I realize it's based on luck.
