The Witcher does have a great plot and a great atmosphere, both 1 and 2, so you can't go wrong there.

I'm really enjoying The Witcher, but then again, I like games that are good.

If you like MGS, then I highly recommend you play Splinter Cell.

If you can look past its technical flaws, Alpha Protocol has a good story and dialogues. It becomes really interesting only after the first chapter though.

I can certainly concurr with the Witcher recommendations. Other than that.. maybe try the first Deus Ex now, since HR was a prequel? :) Graphics may be a bit dated though. Anyway that's what I'm intending to do after I finish my DE: HR playthrough, but first I think I'll play Hydrophobia.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey's got an interesting story to it. Metro 2033 has great atmosphere and is based off a novel, but I haven't really played far enough to vouch for its overall plot. Another game I haven't played enough of yet, but seems to have potential for some good plotlines is L.A. Noire.

Also, I haven't played the original Deus Ex at all, but I'm told it's still better than HR, if you're at all interested in the series.

might aswell check out batman arkham asylum/city while its on sale, i personally loved them

They give game graphics a boost. If You don't care about graphics play vanilla (no mods) Deus Ex.
