Ella prende las turbina', no discrimina
No se pierde ni un party de marquesina
Se acicala hasta pa' la esquina
Luce tan bien que hasta la sombra le combina
Asesina, me domina
Janguea en carros, motoras y limusinas
Llena su tanque de adrenalina
Cuando escucha reggaetón en las bocina'.

Reggaeton.

Uh, Lugum se volvió centroamericano... me hace acordar a cuando era un adolescente y a esta canción la pasaban todo el tiempo, me tenía las bolas llenas, y ahora hasta me da nostalgia escucharla.
BTW this is the first time I've noticed that this song's lyrics actually just skip as many final 's's as possible, I always assumed it was just the accent since I often have a hard time understanding what the heck Puerto Ricans are saying.

Yeah well you probably understand way more then me, i had to google translate that, i don't even understand what's posted in the OP. :P

I was watching some show about the zero's, and it was showing this, and you got people talking about it and apparently it also was some hit here but for some reason it totally went by me (same for the other song i posted) but it sounded catchy.

I must say personally for me the best music was <2000 but i guess also with nostalgia it's the period in which you grew up in and the location, for me in the 90's eurodance was a big thing here in west europe.

This song was basically the first time in my life that I ever heard reggaeton at all, it was like the genre just popped out of the ground and suddenly the radio wouldn't stop playing the handful of songs that became popular in the entirety of Latin America. It wasn't quite a fad since it sorta survived to this day but it never got as overwhelmingly popular as during the mid to late 2000's.
I remember that I wasn't the only one here that went from "what the hell is reggaeton?" to "please make it stop, it all sounds the same" over the course of a few months, although some people's criticism of it had a big racist/classist component to it.

And probably sexist too, especially if they would be released today.

Oh the lyrics themselves can be aggressively sexist XD
But I meant as in people disregarding the genre by dropping racist or classist slurs at it. Man, the kinda shit I've heard throughout my life simply because they assumed that me being a white male means that I must agree with their weird worldview and meanwhile I'm internally going "if you don't move it won't see you" like with a t-rex from Jurassic Park.
