I'm about to be a responsible adult with a job. It will be less than a month before I need to wear pants, appropriate shirt and tie every morning. I'm quite nervous right now because the job will involve a lot of talking to people, meeting strangers and long working hour. The good thing is the pay is quite okay, better than some other job I suppose. The bad thing is I hate people.

Feel free to share some of your experience coping with daily life as an adult. Sorry no giveaway, Steam region-locking sucks.

Don't worry, it'll all end someday.

It would be intellectually dishonest for me to say I hate my job. The job is far too easy for to justify that much emotion. But I do hate that its my job.

I'm currently unemployed, with nothing more than job searching and some volunteering I do for a thrift store as requirements for my time. The thrift store work is okay.

What kind of jobs are you searching for? I mean, what would you ultimately like to do for a career?

Not really picky, just something I can get to with public transport (so night fill jobs have been out, not good when the bus stops at 10pm) and keep up for the job (which takes out some more). I just toss my CVs at stuff and hope to get lucky.

Understandable. I think I've told you several times already, but I wish you continued luck with your search. I truly hope you find something, even if it means less Delta around here. D:

I enjoy the work I do, sadly I dislike half the people I work with. Unfortunately, the half I dislike are the ones I work with the most.

Isn't that the way it always goes?

At my last job I didn't enjoy the work as much, but I enjoyed all of the people more, except one. I kinda miss that one to be honest.

Eh, sorry to hear that. Maybe you can start putting job postings on the desks/offices/whatever of the people you dislike. Passive-aggressive; aww yeah!

Sometimes I do but sometimes I don't/ I'm a software developer which is on one hand interesting and allows me to see that something is growing but on the other hand it's a job which makes me feel tired. I would be happy if I could: Monday-Thursday - work as a programmer, Friday - work as a blue-collar worker. Brain needs some rest. I would feel really bad if I hadn't practice boxing :)

I would suggest you develop your people skills as early as possible. Even if you like your job and not get along with people you work with, you will soon feel miserable in your job. Don't ask me how i know :.(

But then again, since this is your first job, I'm guessing you haven't put much thought int your long term career. Work for some time and see how it goes.

Yeah, about that long term career..the thing is, there's not much option for me. I have to go through compulsory minimum 2 years as a houseman. My people skills are okay, it is just after some time everything turns to white noises.

I do not love it, but I like it. Nice pay, some free time, nice people (which is really important to me), easy work....
It IS the typical "get up at 7, get back home at 7, have no time to do anything else", but I'm not complaining.
