^^ lol but why stop... they only were a bit cheaper than other sites... this is all... now they dont sell people outside brazil i think :$

Why stop? Because they get keys from publishers. They were told to stop selling to out of region users, or lose their games. They also were at times significantly cheaper.

First we loose the Russians, then the Brazilians but it doesn't matter because now we get you :P Are you secretly all the publishers putting an end to the competition?

I wish. Got enough publishers happy to charge us extra down here.

Plus, I don't know about other currencies, but the Brazilian Real has dropped vs the US Dollar. I remember when it was like 2.5:1, then 3:1, now it's hovering around 4:1.

They were often much cheaper, not just a bit. I was still able to buy from them after the change via VPN, but it seems they also check your Paypal account now. Give it a shot, worst case you won't be able to complete the purchase.

When I recently tried to purchase some Rockstar games it wouldn't allow me during the Paypal check to complete my purchase, while I was perfectly able to buy a game there yesterday which would have been before activating a brazilian VPN not have been available for my region.
So it still seems to work occasionally. No idea by what criteria though.

People exploit it? Ubisoft Shanghai paying Chinese wages and selling games at Western prices is exploitation, not this.

cherry pick... there are plenty of games made in north america or europe

By that reasoning, then any developer working in a lower income county should not charge a premium to Western nations then, right? Oh but they do, don't they? Everyone does. So let's not pretend that it is somehow just Ubisoft.

Exploiting? Your wording sounds its like a bug or something. If i'd like to buy from a brazilian vendor i'm pretty fine with that. Its called free trade baby...

Unfortunatedly industry tries to make anti-competitive moves... could be called protectionism...

that's mildly selfish, prices are lowered due to a completely different (lower) income level, minimum wage, etc along with extremely high rate of piracy, the vendor isnt setting the price

would you rather them not sell in poor regions? we already have that with xbox/live 'service' & it's not a good thing

or the state of pc hardware without region locks or tiered pricing, it's based on USD MSRP + import fees & taxes for other regions, basically the cheapest is ironically in usa even though a lot of companies are from & manufacturing is done in taiwan/china (i dont mean american companies, i mean asus/gigabyte/msi)

alternate discussion: food pricing, particularly restaurants in western countries vs eastern europe & poor asia or south america

additional note: we're spoiled with massive sales & bundles, it's definitely cheaper last few years compared to the 00s & earlier even in the most expensive entertainment regions (actual cost, not relative to income levels)

Selfish? Welcome to the world as of now. Who isn't selfish today? Are companies non selfish? Are goverments non selfish? Morality is a lost cause in todays world. People should start a quest to regain moraility on a common banner. I would be on train for sure.

If game industry sticks to a international entity called steam and keys are made to unlock there they need to shift their "we can sell same stuff at different price levels alltogether" paradigm. The idea of that is generally not working. That used to work in the past as things were shipped physically and markets were segregated. But now its the age of digitial distribution. Localized content at local pricing could work but steam decided to offer not language discriminated titles.

To be super clear: i'm not affiliated with the industry and i do not care for it. As the industry does not care for me. (just to make sure: it does not care for you eigther :) You could make a differentation between game industry and small scale "indy" development thats not mainly driven by profit but for the love of game making. Those guys n gals do care for their audience for sure. Very well but we aren't talking about the latter here i'm sure.

If you're anti globalism thats fine for me. Then we can talk. Otherwise i'll point out that the law of the market says "buy from the cheapest source if the quality is the same". Feel free to buy at pricing levels you are comfortable with :)

i did say MILDLY, that's right most everyone (even me) including companies & governments are selfish too, i'm not saying you're a bad person or anything, just brought some examples to put reasons for pricing or situations with equal pricing in perspective, it's just not black & white or 'if it's available, you should do it' at all times

the quality sometimes varies, meaning there are sometimes completely different SKUs with different languages in the game, sometimes even the publisher changes (i remember square enix puts out some western games in japan, 1c puts out some western games in russia)

i do care about the industry when looking at developers, even these giant studios still contain hundreds of employees with families (one of the worst situations is how activision treated bizarre at the end, or how la noire management treated its workers)

of course we're just a couple people, the masses bring the numbers, as long as we choose what to do on a game by game basis without preaching to others, then that's fine by me

just because it works for you guys (for whatever reason) it doesn't mean everyone else is too stupid to buy from nuuvem. It simply doesnt work like that anymore. and I know this for sure as I used to buy a lot from nuuvem untill the last Rockstar sale.

Depends on publishers, some still work.

Most get blocked during sales tho, so you have to be fast.

Lots are still not locked.
Source: South American friend bought me Dying Light and Season Pass from them during Thanksgiving Sale.

But it's somewhat a gamble, you need to do your research on Steamdb.

Aren't Nuuvem keys region locked now to SA, since publishers started to use region-specific keys outside Steam?

As far as I know, only paypal non brasilian account are locked, rest of the keys are region free or region locked, like it was before.
