With Path of Exile F2P (not Pay to win at all) and or torchlight 2 which you can get for 1-2 keys, Diablo3 as just nothing to offer those games are not. I played path of exile a good 150hours last year on beta... felt like Iwas back on Diablo2... The game had content added since, and hugely improved.
No wonder why its in the top 15 played games on Steam

I just happened to have about 20 bucks. When will this offer ends?

In all honesty it still isn't worth it. PoE just destroys D3 and Torchlight 2 goes down to $5 when on sale. You can get 2 ARPGs that are better than D3 and for less.

I agree, though I'm curious to hear from people who prefer D3 over TL2 and/or PoE and why. I never saw one interesting thing about D3 really. Granted I'd like Blizzard to collectively choke and die so I'm pretty biased anyway, but maybe there's something I missed about D3 that would make it worth playing.

well I would say I like them about equally, but its for different aspects of the actual game. overall I have probably spent the most time in Diablo 3. Diablo 3 had a waaaay better story than PoE or torchlight, which is funny because Diablo 2 & 1's story were pretty weak in terms of narrative.
PoE's skills are done much better than diablo 3's, but I find the effects of skills are more interesting in Diablo 3, torchlight probably is the worst in this regard. the greatest complaint I have about PoE is the automatic refreshing of instances, I play hardcore so when I want to take a break to go to the bathroom, I always go to town. Unfortunately PoE's retarded system often makes me lose all of the progress I had by removing the portal I had made, erasing my map, and resetting the level. "fuck that" is something I have said quite often while playing PoE and then shortly afterward quit for the day.
Items in PoE also bug me a little bit, I don't like having all of these orbs to just re-roll all of the junk I have until its awesome. I guess it saves time on MF-ing, but it kind of defeats the whole "wow I got something awesome" aspect of the loot. there also seems (as far as I know) to be a distinct lack of low level unique items. Diablo 3 has some of this, but Diablo 2 definitely did it great. Finding a unique item at a low level almost always resulted in feeling like a badass and made killing everything feel rewarding, at least for me. Surprisingly, I think Titan Quest did this better than Diablo 3 or PoE.
I haven't said much about torchlight, because, well, I didn't really like it much. I didn't see too many redeeming values in that game. And I can hardly remember the mechanics (even though I have played both of them through to completion twice each.
Anyway, I would much rather see a HD re-release of Diablo 2 than all of these other ARPG's with new battle.net features or something to prevent all of the hacking and botting.

In all honesty no one really plays an ARPG for the story. The story is just there to give a reason to go from point A to point B. The skill effects were betting in D3, but at the same time there weren't many and you were stuck with using 1 that was good. Torchlight has a better skill effect that PoE. I enjoy the refreshing of instances. The thing is that it's meant for you to keep going and also instances refresh every 20 minutes after you leave. Many people enjoy the idea of "crafting" your loot because it's pretty unique and it's really hard to get anything good. I'd also like to see an HD version of D2 in the D3 engine. That would be sexy hands down.

I play em' for the story :( at least the first time through, the staying power comes from the level progression and loot systems.
I also know that it is meant to work that way (PoE's instances refreshing) It just does not jive with the way I like to play at all, and that is why I was mentioning it. its not really a design flaw per-se, but it really kills a lot of the enjoyment I might have from that game quite frequently. If you do play hardcore, you can probably understand where I am coming from.
by the way, crafting loot is different, but it sure isnt "hard" or at least "harder" than going out and killing stuff for the loot yourself. infact the crafting gives you much more control than just a straight up loot drop from a boss, because each orb has a specific function for the reroll. It is basically a mechanic built to pander to those who do not want to actually find epic gear from bosses IMO. which, as I have said, removes much of the need to even MF. you just go out and kill some mobs and pick up a ton of the orbs, sell all the junk you get for more orbs, and voila. I don't know, it just does not appeal to me at all.
That being said i'm not trying to rag on PoE at all, In fact I enjoy the game quite a bit, but I was just giving my perspective on why I enjoy it as much as Diablo 3, rather than despise Diablo 3 like many other people seem to.

I see what you're saying. I never truly hated D3. It's entertaining, but I don't want to support something that killed a great franchise. I was going to purchase it originally, but as soon as I found out it was always online I just used my cousins account to play the game. Sadly the only endgame is replaying through the story which gets pretty boring. The thing I like about PoE is that there are maps that are randomly generated that at least spice things up.

Agreed, PoE is amazing and beats D3 in every way, even before considering it's completely free.

I'm not paying that much to play a single-player MMO. I don't do online play, I do single-player campains and LAN. Two things that this "game" can't do right.

I've done single player with multiple classes just fine. Whatchu talkin' 'bout? I'm in Inferno with my Monk and a Demon Hunter. Or whatever that difficulty level is called now. :P

With RoS right around the corner... I'll wait for a bundle sub $30 or just not bother and play my steam backlog forever. I mean D2 is still $20 in some places, insane.

well, Toys R Us did have it for 10 dollars back in October 6th 2012 so its not the cheapest price it has been, not by a long shot :D

I got mine for free playing WoW. Cheapest. Win. :P
PS: Thanks for the heads up. This is a good deal for folks right before the expansion comes out.

One of my friends got it for free from WoW.. that his work was paying for(they would pre-install it and make sure it didn't f up in some of the common scenarios where things f'd up)
.. so even more free than yours
.. I got it for -$40 in the long run :P .. yay for selling some stupid weapon for $122 before fees! (it wasn't even that good.. not even 1k dps, low crit dmg, str int and dex! .. and ofc dmg)

20$ is probably worth it for some new players. It doesn't suck "that much" compared when it was just released.
Also it will probably net you 50 hours to complete up to inferno difficulty, although that is my gameplay hours when wizard aren't nerfed yet. So give or take on that estimation
This is my wizard that beat inferno, I just farmed items to smell on RMAH until buyers got tired of the nerfs and changes. I didn't touch my diablo 3 since then.
P.S: Don't do my skill build, that skill build only works when Illusionist wasn't nerfed hard yet.

Until I can play it offline, it may as well be free

The reason they put it on sale is because they have a huge expansion coming out. The expansion is 40 usd and 50 usd for the deluxe edition.
IMO, blizzard can suck a chode. They are a shadow of their former selves. They don't make the kind of great games that they used to. Everyone who was responsible for the good stuff left blizzard years ago, and they only care about controlling the playerbase and milking them. One look at their history in S. Korea is evidence enough of that.
Besides that, D3 is outshone by other games.
This is coming from somebody who had been a die-hard fan of blizzard for many years. They're a turd of a company now. Don't give them any of your money.
