Ah I see, hmm if it's budget then yeah the droid tabs are better on the wallet. I would suggest either the Nexus or Tab 10.1. The AT200 is ok too but I would stay away from the acer iconia series.

Galaxy tab and samsung tab are one and the same... You clearly haven't been to your local electronics shop in months.

lol, I hope that's a joke. Who the hell pays $500 for a piece of hardware so they can get 3 $5 games for free

An iPod Touch doesn't even cost $300 for a 16GB model.

Good thing apple makes products other than the iPod touch, then. And since the thread is talking about tablets, it'd be pretty safe to assume I was referring to an iPad, which can cost upwards of $700.

But ok, if that comment was just to prove that you didn't spend $500, and only spent $300 for your 3 $5 game keys, I think my point still stands.

Yeah, I was just trying to prove that you don't need that ipad, and it worked.

but... >why< were you trying to prove that? We're talking about tablets, and apple products were mentioned. Care to point out another apple-made tablet? That would certainly be more relevant.

I prefer a better tablet, even if it doesn't give me free cheap games.

Google Nexus 7 16GB for that price range is about the best.
Good specs but no 3G or SD natively.
Already on Jelly Bean, and will get quick updates from Google.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which is nice but has only just got Ice Cream Sandwich - was expensive too.
Hopefully the Nexus 7 will drive down the Android Tablet prices.

You can try the 7' tab if you want a cheap model. And you don't need 3g models if you don't need to connect to the internet out of your home and/or office.

And most recent (and some pretty old) phones will allow you to tether via Bluetooth so you can gain internet access that way if you really need it on the move.

Some Nokia phones from 4-5 years ago had it too (can't remember which), that's what I meant by old phones.

Um, I don't recall phones then that had bluetooth, care to give an example?

Never had one of them so can't confirm, but I've seen report of people successfully tethering via a Nokia 2640 (2006) or a Nokia 6300 (2007).

I have a kindle fire and an Ipad... and I like them both. There's a lot of free games on the Ipad, and not as many on the android. However, I really like the size and ability of the KF, so I use that a lot more. Google's new tab looks like it beats the KF hands down, so if your budget is around the 200 mark, go with the google nexus (i've seen it for $225 a couple of times on sale). If I had it to do over again, that's where I'd be. http://www.google.com/nexus/

I never ran out of games to play on my Android phone, especially with console emulators. Having more games I won't play in the store doesn't mean much to me.

Although the open-source nature of Android allows for low-end tablets, you might want to be cautious. The people who came to dislike Android are usually those who tried it on low-end devices. The JDX tablet looks interesting (I hand't heard about it before) but don't expect it to perform on the same level as Transformer Pad or Galaxy Tab. Archos has a habit to cut corners to make their tablets more affordable, and it will usually show in the build quality and responsiveness of the touch screen.

The Nexus 7 would be a good choice if you want performance and don't mind a 7" screen.

I really can't see how games work on tablets. I just can't do it. They often seem clunky and attention luring, and I mean the bad kind of attention.

A well-designed game will work great on a tablet, but as with any platform there will be a lot of shovelware too.

I'm thinking of one too. I don't give a shit if it's Apple or Android as long as it is good.

I just need to know what are the things I can do on a tablet aside from games which I'm not too interested in because I already have tons of games on Steam.

Read ebooks? Any other sort of entertaining stuffs to do?

I'd agree with people here about the Nexus 7, though there is supposed to be a Kindle line refresh coming in september. Personally, im waiting till then to see what Amazon comes out with, then either getting that or a Nexus 7.
