So I got 50 people on my whitelist now. Think i'm going to make a group and add everyone on steam announcing i'm starting whitelist giveaways at 100.

Because now i'm solely relying on the level system and I do flash giveaways but that's not really fair with timezones.

How do you do it mostly?

I will post invite only giveaway here tommorow but need paycheck first xD
also feel free to ask for whitelist:

in last 2 weeks you have given away 4 games on my wishlist :)
even currently running giveaways are of awesome game, I would have entered if I had game pad.
Keep up the good work of quality over quantity.
as for fair giveaways..it's totally different idea from whitelist..for me at least. few examples from forums I found fair- if you want to enter a giveaway for afterbirth Issac dlc you should have a certain achievements from the game Issac rebirth. if you want to enter Fallout 4 giveaway , you should have played and liked previous installments to the fullest... a sense of progression and assurance that all entrants really do want to play the game. having game on wishlist for more than 2 months or so can also qualify as qualification for fair.
Whitelist on the other hand is totally your choice....... people you like , who made you laugh who you think deserve winning. fair and whitelist can be different.
idk It's 6am and lack of sleep makes me want to ramble
Edit: why is everyone else talking about time zones..well collective hive mind..I'm gonna do so too I guess ..I create giveaways so that they end on convenient time for me.. so that I can send gift/keys within minutes..it's generally weekend to weekend thing..

Two days is my "standard". It's long enough to let regular visitors/members to see it and enter it, and short enough so that the wait isn't too long and the odds aren't too bad.

I prefer the odds when entering flash giveaways, but I try to have at least 1 day when hosting. If it was a smaller bundled game that there are many other giveaways for its not as much of an issue but with more popular titles it is nice to give everyone a chance. Ultimately, its to each their own.

I've been trying to experiment with flash giveaways on different days of the week and at different times with and without level restrictions but I prefer between one and five days. I'm slowly building up my giveaway slots and collecting copies of a certain game for data that will be more useful to me in this endeavour.

I guess the best thing would be to slowly create a good whitelist and run the GA for a longer time :D. I will be reading the thread an getting some ideas from you guys too :D

We've got a pretty good mix of people worldwide to enter giveaways at any given time. I make mine more or less at random :D

i prefer flash gas, you are right, not every body is in the same time zone than me and meybe he is sleeping, during the flash ga, but on the other hand, there are also flash gas, when he is online and iยดm sleeping^^ so we have maybe different gas, we can join but it should be fair...
btw: flash ga -> less entries -> higher win chance for them^^
but without the slower gas, some of us couldnt spend their points... so we need them all^^

I try to vary it. Some public GAs, some Wl or groups.

I've currently got a few GAs for the big London Underground train event, which sounds fun, I hope everyone who regularly uses the discussion forums will join :-)

I only very recently made a whitelist thread, and gave away 8 games. I had such a good response that as the 8 just finished, I've created a few more that run until Sunday. I think I'm going to keep up the WL giveaways from time to time, as it's a nice way that I can add people who have good ratios - like yourself! I just added you now.

Ha zuiderbuur!

I usually mix it up. Public, private, group; all get their fair share. Before I used my whitelist too sometimes, but now I'm part of a group with a lot of the cool people I had on my whitelist, so I just use that one. Bigger games are always private or group; cannon fodder goes public, mostly restricted to 3+ to filter out the bots and leechers (not fullproof)

I like being whitelisted. Feel free to add me if you want :)

I don't really care about whitelist, so I have there about 10 people. But I always add it to group giveaways, so everyone has good chances :)

I mostly do flash giveaways, but at other points day long giveaways. To be honest, it depends on my mood :P. If it would be discussion related though, I would go for at least 2 days.

I do all kinds of giveaways, public, forum, group, whitelist. (Sometimes it's whitelist + groups)

Flash giveaways are fair to those who happen to see it because they get better odds, just like longer giveaways are fairer to those in different time zones. Unless you make an incredibly hard to solve puzzle as an entry barrier, I think all giveaways are fair in their own way, be it because they're more inclusive or they provide better odds to the entrants.

I'm starting to have a decent whitelist. My "rule" for building it is adding people who makes the time I spend on Steamgifts more enjoyable.

To be honest i would like to ask entering your whitelist once for the GA ratio i have so far and also to raise my odds a bit.
Until now i seem rather unlucky winning 1 Game and 1 DLC in arround 1500 GAs so far hehe.

I can not fully decode the giving away wishlisted game part, but happy to report that I have given away an Unhack from yours, just on this Tuesday. It was the 4P starting point of a 441P cakeday train xD
Otherwise I try to make GA-s be alive for at least a weekend and a couple days after it, so 4-5 days minimum. But mostly they are puzzles and tend to run for more than a week.

I think I dropped the concept of "fairness" around the same time as "trust in humanity".
I don't really like the odds of a massive jerk winning a giveaway I make if I make it public. So I used to make puzzles. The kind that anyone can solve if they can focus and maybe search around for a bit. Sounds about fair. Although lately (as in, the last 2 years or so) I haven't really had time or motivation to make puzzles so I just make all my giveaways for groups the creators of which I trust and respect enough to believe they have good judgement in people. It's working out pretty nice even if it's not exactly "fair". :D

Anyway, did someone mention good food? (I'm not looking for the whole whitelist thing. I just wanted to mention good food. :P )

Most of my giveaways last three days. I do mostly group stuff, but I also like to spread my giveaways around, so I participate in various events and public stuff, too.

Honestly, there's enough give aways for everyone, so i really never consider the 'fairness" of them.

I do however TRY to end mine when I know I'll be able to send out the winnings within an hour or so (or quicker if I happen to be sitting right there when they end)

I also keep threatening to make a whitelist one, but I'm a few short of 100 people and was kind of using that as a baseline.

Good Luck with whatever you decide, but don't worry on it too much.

I give away way more than I win, though I guess you could say that I win more by being part of this community...

When I try to make "fair" giveaways I filter by level or whitelist/groups I trust to make sure "worthy" people win. However, most people are pretty cool.

I am also a compulsive closed beta tester, though I think most of my recent plays are under NDA... Some are better than others.

I do fast GAs with lvl2+ for the comunity and very long GAs for groups. I really don't care about gaining CV fast :P Also I think that faster GAs with fewer entries are more fair for people than 1 day GA with 1500 entries
Anyway I would like to join your WL :)
