Proper Tower Defense Game?

Not asking you to search my library, but if you mention them I might find them myself in there, so what are some good tower defense game? Proper ones, top down, upgrades, etc. I saw a lot of people playing that Gemcraft Shadows something game that's on sale now, but not sure if I should get it, someone said that if I didn't play some browser game I might find it frustrating.

Just so you get an idea, I really liked Prime World Defenders, spent a lot of time in that grinding, even though I didn't finish the last level

Well, the original Gemcraft games were browser games, so that might be it.

Kingdom Rush is also pretty awesome!

Dungeon Defender is somekind tower defense, the 2nd one is f2p (well its on beta or something like that) and the first one were on a HB complete

Sanctum franchise is freaking awesome...
You are not just a passive player. It combines action with strategy.
It really worth every penny, both Sanctum's.

Defence grid 1 and 2 , Kingdom rush ,gemcraft. I didn't like the anomaly games. Also some kind of tower defence is orcs must die 1_2, sanctum games,dungeon defenders games

Like some before me said Sanctum, but it isnt top down, you are part of it as well and you can die yourself ^^

I enjoyed defend your life as well.
