To brawl or not to brawl?
I was curious to get into Guilty Gear as I hear it has a good tutorial and learning curve for newcomers. I think I heard that more in reference to -REV2, but does it apply to -SIGN as well? Should I bother with -SIGN or go straight to -REV2 as a newcomer?

I'm not exactly interested in the DLCs, but the price difference for the standard and full editions during sales is so small compared to getting them individually, and I already have Rivals of Aether, too. I guess I'll be waiting for next sale, thank you for the tip.

As is all too common, the publisher was a moron and made the package a /sub instead of a /bundle, /sub should be completely removed from Steam by Valve. They are pointless and only exist to attempt to scam consumers out of buying the same items twice.

Give them 1-2 days. In the meantime you can still purchase the bundle again, for the price you want.

Humble can always refund, but they can't match previous prices; as such, they always tell you to repurchase if necessary, and contact them with the transaction ID of the order you want cancelled and refunded. Make sure not to activate any keys from the bundle you want refunded, as they may invalidate your refund request.

What would you be looking for for RoA? I'd probably be willing to trade with you.

So Skullgirls is DRM and you can't access online play and on BTA you only have 2 games, one of which is Street Fighter vs Tekken and it's unplayable not to mention that it's the game that many will consider buying the BTA for and not find out till after they've already bought it. Wow what a mess. I have a feeling this might be the lowest selling bundle HB has put out in the past couple years.
Also add in the fact that when a new game comes out in a franchise series people normally move on to the next and the online population can be small to non existent, especially for older fighting games.
I pulled the numbers off the steam charts. On a side note steam charts isn't accurate btw and often will have more players shown that there are actual people playing it. The numbers don't just reflect people playing against each other online but single player as well.
GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE PLUS R - 12 people playing
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend - 12 people playing
Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!! - 2 people playing
Street Fighter X Tekken - 7 people playing (anyone on this must be playing offline. As mentioned I don't believe you can play online)
GUILTY GEAR Xrd -SIGN- - 4 people playing
Rivals of Aether - 146 (there's at least a small pop to play with)
Definitely not something to get if you are looking to battle online as Rivals of Aether is the only game that really has any online presence. I own Rivals of Aether and online matchmaking took awhile when I tried it a few weeks ago.

well with Xrd, 2nd Rev is out so the competive scene might have moved to that and the ASW games tend to have a nice amount of single player content.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they moved on to that game as there's about 172 people playing it.

Tier 3 for me as the $2 humble wallet credit makes it just worthwhile for me to get top tier. Cheers Shakti for the charts :D

This is tempting especially right after I got my refund. Mainly to the T2 level atm, might keep an eye on T2 price.

T1 Looks promising. so I may grab it but Rivals of Aether at 9$ NOPE!

So, even without online play, is Street Fighter X Tekken any good in single-player, or does it only have some basic training stuff, but no real good fighting AI?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, but it doesn't have the community of people it once did because most people have moved on to newer games. This is a common issue with all online games. So, once again, what is the single-player like?

I haven't played it myself, but from my understanding:
The game uses the Street Fighter 6-button combat scheme, with Tekken fighters also being able to do their combos with their standard 4-button arrangement. Past that, it apparently plays out a lot like Tekken Tag Tournament. So basically, think Tekken Tag Tournament if it'd had two extra combat buttons and a Street Fighter vibe, and then had Street Fighters randomly come in to fight. There's some stat modification elements and extra emphasis on Tag Team mechanics, as well.
That said, GfWL issues can potentially lock out single player, as well, and the work-arounds may not necessarily work. This fact makes up the majority of the game's negative reviews, I believe.

Street Fighter X Tekken works perfectly fine. Learn to use a computer.

Actually, not a single one of these games classifies as a Brawler (though Rivals at least shares some components with the genre).
Brawlers require a freeform combat environment with multiple participants. This ranges from classic side-scrolling Beat'Em Ups to modern arena brawlers / party brawlers like Super Smash Bros. Each of the games in this bundle are classified as Fighting Games, which traditionally involve close combat between two active participants, and typically have far deeper emphasis on combo systems, blocking, and counter-attacking than brawlers, which are often based more in careful utilization of environmental factors or positioning.
They make for awesome giveaways either way, of course. :)
