It's 2014, get a smart watch :P
But really, The old adage would seem to apply, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. There's nothing you can do to verify an online watch is genuine, aside from trust the seller's rating.
On the other hand, it's unlikely anyone but a jeweler would be able to tell, and even the amazon reviews that suspect they are knock-offs still say it's a decent watch. Doesn't make it right though.

Smartwatch.... laughable
The one who should be SMART is the owner... not the watch. IMHO Buying toys with lots of redundant features isn’t anything close to being smart… Let’s leave digital watches for those who can’t read the time on analog dials.

mine was from my great-grandfather
he died in the 80's
so do the numbers :)

here's the one I wear pretty much daily
and here's the one I wear at formal events
Honestly, I find Armani watches boring, uninventive. If you like the model of the sample you linked, there are a lot of GUESS watches that look much better in my opinion. Their prices are also quite competitive.

This is my watch. Wife bought it for me in Japan the day it was released as an engagement gift :) Titanium, world time, solar power, updates it time every night via atomic clock radio signal. I find the solar power and the atomic time very useful, never have to set your watch again and it's always accurate. There are a few pricey brands that are similar, but I think Casio makes some of their watches with atomic time at a reasonable price.

The Emporio Armani watch isn't really all that, you are paying for the name.
Don't get me wrong, it is a decent watch, just in the Fossil & Nixon range of craftsmanship.
At that price a Wenger (Swiss Army), Seiko or Citizen is better.
Or you could go for a Invicta.

I am wearing either my Fossil FS4662 or my Lambretta Chilometri, unfortunately it's not sold or listed on the Lambretta website anymore.

Hmmm... Armani is not that bad choice... better than Nike, Adidas, Boss, Karl Lagerfeld or Diesel
Still it would be better with... hmm... dunno Atlantic, Aviator, Fossil... Festina, Roamer... ok can't remember more names of brands... well there is also always reliable Tissot
Edit: uh oh and Epos

After being a calculator watch guy from grade school through high school, I like not having a watch at all now that I'm "grown up". Or a cuff bracelet of some sort if I'm dressed up a little.
Only time I've wanted a watch iin the past five or ten years or whatever is when I briefly took up surfing and didn't want to take my phone out in the water.
So my only suggestion is a common feature already: make sure it's waterproof to a reasonable depth/pressure.

Hmmm.... I prefer pocket watches over wristwatch. I have nice collection of them.
About Ebay... I would avoid it because you can find there too many things that are just fakes or things stolen by workers from Chinese factories. And unfortunately you can find on Amazon people that buy cheap things from ebay and try to sell them lil bit more pricey. If I were you I would go to normal stationary shop… it will cost more money but you will be sure that it is original.
Why? There is no bigger faux pas than wearing cheap fakes of expensive brands. If you can’t afford it…there is nothing wrong in wearing watch from cheaper brand! Really!

How is it a marketing trap when there is absolutely no marketing at all? It's not even confirmed. And how could you say that it's useless when you know nothing about it?
Also I said waiting. I'm not planning to blindly buy it on release day. I'll have to watch their presentation and check the reviews first. Considering their style of products, I'll expect that it will fit my personal needs better than other companies products. If it doesn't, I could just buy another ordinary digital watch.

If you ever want to do some scuba diving, you might want to check out scuba diving designed watched as they can be used on land too and some of them are really great :-) I would not buy a watch ( or any such thing ) from ebay or amazon thinking it is a real one.

In my oh-very-humble opinion It looks like a wearable certificate of sexual abstinence...
Ok I kidding... but... who am I trying to kid... it looks as if it was shouting "LOOK LOOK! My owner prefers minecraft/hand over real girlfriend"
EDIT: and no offense, mkay? It is just my opinion, you can have yours right?

From your posting, it seems your mindset is still quite young. Are you really clear about why you are buying a watch?

Seiko would be a good manufacturer for decent, cheap watches.
If you want something for eternity, something you can hand down to your children when you die or whatever, consider spending more than 1000 GBP/€/$
What you definitely should do is consulting people somewhere else, people who actually know a thing about watches (I own a Nomos Tangente and a Zürich Weltzeit but don't know that much about timepieces so I won't reccomend anything) - for expensive watches, the watch snob or some timepiece-dedicated forum would be the best adress.
Otherwise, follow Khalag's instructions, they're decent.

Yeah, my Seiko has held up well. Got one of these (5M63-0C00) and whilst it wasn't the most expensive watch it's still running nicely. Had it about 12 years now.

I'd say don't bother purchasing anything that you can't trust to be authentic. If you're going to shell out that kind of money for jewelry, you need to be sure that you're getting what you paid for.
I've never been much of a wristwatch person, but I've always loved pocketwatches. Unfortunately, I tend to destroy them like everything else in my life. That's, literally, why I can't have nice things.

Get a nice reliable watch and ignore the fashion trend, preferably one that is both analogue and digital and used by the military.

So on my next step into manhood I decided it's time to buy a nice watch. Upon going onto watchshop UK, a highly recommended site, I stumbled upon this watch.
Clicky
But ongoing research on the net I've found it from other sources being half the price, however, I don't want a fake. I've found it on Amazon, with mixed reviews of fakes and genuine versions...
Clicky
But the one that's really caught my eye, is surprisingly, eBay.
Several premium sellers, especially this one here which is shoved in your face as soon as you search for the item. Clicky
The company insists that it's genuine but can you trust them?

I just can't be bothered dealing with the hassle of having to get it looked at by a jewellers and or having to return the item. Plus, if I can save £100 on the exact same product from shopping around, it's silly not to! It's like half price!
If any of you have a minute to share an interest and help me out, I'd really appreciate it! Then I'll let you get back to Steam ;)
