I'd stay away from street fighter x tekken, it's not as good as any street fighter and tekken 7 looks really good.
Also skullgirls is very good, and if you're fond of complex systems king of fighters is good, and guilty gear, blaz blue and marvel versus capcom are fun and fairly easy to pick up

Tekken 7 looks kinda cool, and for Street Fighter, I recommend Ultra SF IV. BlazBlue is also an excellent fighting game.

Skull girls is like mvc, kind of. aerial combos, fast paced fighting game.
Tekken, I personally like tekken, but I'm no expert, I just find it easy to begin with but very deep as you continue to play.
Street fight looks ok to me, but disappointed with PC version of sfv.
sf vs tekken, don't know, I tried it the first time and I didn't like it, it is more like street fighter vs street fighter but with character skins from tekken. might as well go for tekken or sf, not both.

Skullgirls doesn't have as much boobs as Vanguard Princess or Dead or Alive 5 though. It does have competent gameplay though :)
I'd also recommend:
- Ultra Street Fighter 4 (note: haven't played SF 5 yet. Botched launch, lacking features and overpricing the DLC character packs make wait for better deals.)
- Injustice: Gods Among us - similar gameplay to Mortal Kombat, but different enough to make it worthwhile. (don't have this on PC, played on Xbox 360)
- Divekick. As much as it's a parody game with deliberate crippling limitations on the controls, it's also a surprisingly technical game to play in it's own right.

I doubt Netherrealm would port it anyway if WB decides to try again or not. I don't think they really won't try it, considering PC gaming is actually a market six times larger than all home consoles put together (even if it is driven by MOBA and MMO transactions and subscriptions).

WB really fucked up some of their last releases. so it's understandable that those games are not as successful as they could have been. MKX has like a thousand players each day. which isn't a lot. still, it sold 800k copies. so, i guess from a business standpoint it definitely makes sense to try again. question is, do they realize their mistakes from last time? ^^

this current deal is better. sorry about the confusion, when i went to look the first time i didn't see the "kombat pack 2" inside of it, which is what makes the game XL instead of just X.
that whole X vs Premium vs XL vs Fatality makes it hard to follow which is which. but Fatality appears to be X+XL+Premium+A few extra DLCs that even the XL didn't contain, so it's the ultimate package of them all.

shit... i maybe wrong again. the "Kombat Pack 2" (XL content) is in a separate tier for $16.99.. i think i'd prefer the "Kombat Pack 2" content instead of the "Mortal Kombat X - Unlock all Krypt Items DLC" personally. so it really comes down to personal choice there. $9.99 for XL which lacks the krypt unlock & the blue steel sub-zero, or $9.99 for fatality tier1 which lacks several playable characters.

it's actually a matter of opinion. i personally would not like the krypt unlock as that sort of ruins the gameplay in my opinion. the main point of the game beyond just fighting is to unlock those krypt items as you progress thru continuous gameplay. unlocking it via DLC kinda ruins part of the fun IMO. the fatality pack tier 2 includes everything that there is for the game for $16.99, that kombat pack 2 includes 4 characters that i personally would want over the krypt unlock package.
i'll try and break down the packages for you the best i can though.
Mortal Kombat X (raw base game without any DLC)
Mortal Kombat Premium (base game + kombat pack 1)
Mortal Kombat Fatality Tier 1 (base game + kombat pack 1 + krypt unlock + blue sub-zero skin)
Mortal Kombat XL (base game + kombat pack 1 + kombat pack 2)
Mortal Kombat Fatality Tier 2 (base game + kombat pack 1 + kombat pack 2 + krypt unlock + blue sub-zero skin)
so personally i like the XL version that i have more for the price of only 9.99. i don't want the krypt unlock and i already bought the sub-zero skin for only 0.99 when it was on sale. so i own everything that the fatality edition tier2 offers that i personally wanted for only 10.98 instead of 16.99.
edit: correction.. the tier 2 (16.99) still does not include 'Krimson Ermac' or the 'Cosplay Pack'.
and for further clarification, i purchased XL + blue steel + krimson ermac, and the only 2 dlcs i still do not own is cosplay + krypt unlock (the one i certainly don't want)
tl;dr = XL is all dlc possible except - blue steel, krimson ermac, cosplay pack, & krypt unlock

yeah, it gives the better bang for buck unless you wanted the krypt unlock. the steel blue sub-zero skin is a nice skin, but it's just cosmetic and relatively cheap even at full price if you wanted it too.

Any fighting game you could pick up is a good game, watch Maximilian Dood, he's playing trough right now every Tekken game in the franchise in honor of Tekken 7 FINALY COMING OUT, soon. The King of Fighters 14 is coming out in 2 weeks, you should pick that one up as well, SNK needs the money.

I couldn't play it too much through main campaign, you need to learn numerous pattern for each characters.
Hopefully, all patterns are described and aren't too much complex.
But that was a learning curve I didn't want to bother climbing.
There are quite large content in game itself : long (?) campaign, world wide factions, challenges, etc...

No idea if factions are crossplatform or not, but on PC right now only two factions are worthy joining - Special Forces and Brotherhood of Shadow - for last few weeks those two pretty much exchanged winner seat between each other.

fyi, you can hit the krypt for skip fight token things for characters you're struggling to get thru on the campaign if u wanted to try and get thru it quickly. ;)
it's actually not that long of a story after you learn the fighting style of each of the campaigns characters. i've gone thru it 4-5x, the first time i just skipped characters i couldn't play as or against. then i went back and beat it a couple times without skipping anything. but yes, the campaign is just a tiny portion of the game too. ^^

mortal kombat x + those two kombat packs = 90% of the game. all it is missing is "blue steel, krimson ermac, cosplay pack, & krypt unlock"
the kombat packs are packages of the other dlc's, that's why it's so confusing.
it comes down to krypt unlock, if you don't want it, then the cheapest value to purchase the game+dlc is this deal. if you want the krypt unlock then the fatality edition is the better deal.
