Yes, I have bought many games on Steam that I previously had on console.
At some point, every console dies or get replaced with a newer model that's not backward compatible. I see the PC version as a long-term investment allowing me to play my game long after the console version is unusable.

lol 50 years from now, new program comes out - "WINBOX". Emulates a Windows 7 environment so you can play "all your old classics like Far Cry 3". Just like we use DOSBOX now :P :D

Well, we already need a "WINBOX" to emulate Windows XP for some games. Thank god for dual booting !

If I were really rich, I would get Collector's Editions for like everything.
Alas, I am not very good at using controllers. I probably would get another copy for a different system for a complete experience of a game that I really enjoyed. Especially if the other system has exclusives ;).
In my opinion, it all really comes down to preferences, budget, and so on.

I've also done the reverse, buying games I have on PC for my consoles.

I bought some games for my console and for pc! That's because I wanted to support the developer... I never felt like betraying my consoles, or my pc (for example, I bought Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City for pc first and for my PS3 afterwards).
Also I buy some games two times (on for me, one for my wife, so we both can play the game at the same time).

I don't have any newer consoles now, latest was Wii, but from what I played I wish sometime will come a new version of "Starfox Adventure's" game (but 99.99% that not for PC), Nintendo is promising it more than 10 years lol, but the developers of this game left Nintendo not long time after "Starfox Adventures" release, they left them for Microsoft to work on trash games like Viva Piñata, just fucking asshole's!!! But anyways one game won't make me buy a console unless I will have tons of money. From other consoles I like God of War, but I played only 1 game in PS2 of my cousin. Last years I don't buy any consoles, and I usually hear from ppl who have the newest consoles that they didn't even played on them a lot like on PC, since games are super expensive.

Recently I've begun to make a bit of a switch from console games to PC (when my computer can handle said games), and I noticed a few overlaps between games that I own on multiple mediums. It almost makes me feel...Guilty, buying a game on Steam that I already own - like I'm cheating on my consoles - but the perks (like mods and dlc sales!) are just too great to ignore.
So what about you?
If you own a game on a console, would you want to also have a copy on the PC?
What about entering games for it, then?
Does it seem unfair if people who already own the game in another medium enter a giveaway for it?
Do you feel like you're cheating on your console/PC when you buy a game for the other?
(I really hope this doesn't turn into a pc master race/consoles for days thread. ._.; )
