Quick question about Diablo III. Does the game end? Or is it like WOW? I.e. Life draining till the end of time. Simple Yes or No from anyone who knows would be greatly appreciated as id like to pre-order it.

Thanks in advance

Did Diablo 2 end? After you killed Baal you do it again and again and again.

Yes, Diablo 3 will have a story that will conclude, but you will go through it multiple times.

Actually, you don't kill Baal at the end, you him at Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction end :3

The story will likely never end, so the series will go on for some time yet I'm sure. AS to an end of the game, it is what you make it, people still play Diablo 2, and Diablo 3 will be in the same format of finding loot, killing bosses, doing repetitive runs, trading, etc.

So yes, and no.

Nah, Blizzard promised, that in Diablo III there will be no repetitive Baal, Mephisto, etc. runs.

Who cares? You can't buy/activate/redeem it on Steam.

Normally I'd agree, but for Diablo... I make an exception. Already pre-ordered my copy. If you played D2, you're pretty much obligated to buy this one.

Except unlike D3, diablo 2 allowed modding, were most of it's life came from.. didn't have sketchy real-money auction house and always-on-DRM etc.. And I forgot the constant dumbing down that is going on atm to fit their console version..

Never used any of the mods in D2, I played it au naturel and still loved the hell out of it. The real money auction house went on in D2 as well, if you remember: it was called ebay. Last I heard they weren't including the always-on-DRM, but even if they are including it I'll be a little pissed on principle, but since that doesn't actually affect me in any way, I'll get over it soon enough.

D2 didn't allow modding at all, people did it. and they'll probably do it to D3 as well.

Wouldn't pre-order when they break their promises time after time, but knock yourself out.

What do you mean break their promises time after time?

No, they will release 40€ expansion every 1-2 year with more zone and loot to farm.. yes like WoW.
World of Diablo, hear here first ;)

PS: just wait for Torchlight 2
is coming 1 month after Diablo 3, have the original Diablo1-2 team, is 20$ only, is on steam, have modding and lan and overall is a better game ( ofc Diablo 3 is made by World of Activi$ionBlizzard )

Torchlight 1 had horrendously slow combat on very high difficulty, and the pets were useless in combat on those higher difficulties. On the other hand, normal difficulty had great combat pacing, but it was boring as you would mow down hordes of enemies without any trouble.
Diablo 2 (Titan Quest too), on the other hand had interesting combat through every difficulty, which I enjoyed much more. Might pick it up (TL2) sometime after helluva lot of Diablo 3.
Also, I recommend Path of Exile beta, great stuff to play if you're into hack'n'slash games.

its not to be compared to wow.

you'll always be on the hunt for better gear, the gear is totally random, so you'll always want the next best thing.

I doubt it actually ends, its probably similar to how DiabloII used to work in that regard, but that depends on you completely.
