Oh, hell yes. I remember I'd play the demo of Rome:TW all the freaking time a while back. So good.

nope, hueheueheuheuh. I got Medieval II when it was $2,25 but I didn't really get into it due to the lack of color to motivate my ADD. That and because I want to play it in a more calm moment.

a friend of mine has ADD too
gosh you should've seen him play shogun 2 on my pc
he was fucking HILARIOUS
but that's just him I guess and NOT the ADD

personally CA has done a great job. yes they don't make radical changes but they always change enough for the new game to feel fresh. For me the total war series is one of the best strategy series. i am always afraid that it will take the C&C path

I hope!
Rome had the best General speeches out of all of the games. I really hope they keep it up! Empire didn't have any and Shogun 2 was in Japanese! (For obvious reasons of course)

I doubt a WW1 game would be viable. The whole trench warfare thing plus airplanes may mess things up pretty badly.
Unless they just leave airplanes out, and include only the eastern front and late western front, as trench warfare wasn't used on such a big scale on them.

the gameplay would change but would it be a bad thing?
the key here would be for the game to feel total war-y. if they can make a WW1 game fun, i think many people would be interested in trying a new take for the series.
when CA made empire i literally said " the combat is going to be 2 lines firing at each other", what i didnt count at the time was the effect of cover, artellery, etc. with the new naval battles CA completely won me over with empire. i didn't care much about the era, i still don't much but even so CA made a fun game in a relatively unexpected era. I hope that they once tackle the chalange of WW1 and make a fun strategy game out of one of mankinds biggest wars. that and the fact that there is no good WW1 strategy game.

I already own a physical copy of Medieval 2, but I'm gonna buy the gold pack again so I can play The Third Age mod. People rave about that. Anyone play it?

Just reading that title made me, well over excited!

rome graphics are not bad for their age they are bad when compared to recent total wars. rome campaign map is very "bland" when compared to shogun or empire. the battles in rome are just units with 3 or 4 animations making them very simple while in empire and shogun 2 you can have horses runing around with the user dead, you will have units in the ground in pain, etc. these little animations make the battle more imerssive. i don't care much about graphics but the animations that CA did for shogun 2 were very much apreciated by me

Bow,Sword,Shield,Horse, thats actually gives more pleasure then Rifles. It would be sad ,as well as interesting, to see modern strategy game. I don't want to have Rocket launching or Tanks in Totalwar.
They can create Medieval Fantasy world Strategy mix with RPG. M2TW LoTR mod or GoT mod are great example.

i would totaly love a fantasy take with the current total war formula however i am more interested in what concepts they could create. personally i would like that they keep trying to "recreate" diferent eras and only remake games when they can substantially increase the fun. Shogun 2 and medieval 2 were awesome remakes but it was empire that introduced more changes from "rifle warfare", naval battles to a better diplomacy scheme (even if it is still crappy).
my point is that major introduction to the series are made with atempts to deal with challenges, WW1 would be such a chalenge. some people didn't like empire but none can criticize the amount of new content that game brought to the total war series

I highly doubt that there would ever be WW1 Total war. Mainly because the battles took place in trenches over the place of months. Plus tactics are changed since there aren't lines of soldier's marching around anymore; instead there are smaller squads, platoons, and companies. When it comes to more modern warfare, it more suited towards RTS games like CoH and MoW

This. You can't display the static Attrition warfare of WW1 with Total War's mechanics, which is designed for a few huge battles. For a great grand-strategy WW2 game check out Hearts of Iron (I loved and played the second part. Don't know about the third one).

Its now official !!! I am so exited!!
A new graphics engine will power the visuals of the game, and new unit cameras will allow players to focus on individual soldiers in the battlefield, which in itself may contain tens of thousands of combatants at a time.
New engine aswell for the series
Its set for 2013
