Wow the twitch.tv chat can be really awful at times

You need to stop joining them MLG chats and expecting anything but spam. You should look into real streamers that have a good community though i will admit the twitch chat has been crap recently lets just hope it gets better

Seriously though, the chat on streams I either mod or am a regular on are no where as chaotic or mean. Try channels like Lethalfrag, ManVsGame, Chaide and Lookatmychicken and you'll find really chill chats. The chat on Siglemic, Cosmo and Trihex can get silly but never really nasty.

When it's on a well moderated stream with a healthy community it's great. You can't judge Twitch on one unmodded channel with over 20k people in there.

I'm not judging Twitch specifically. I'm referring to stream chats in general, it's like trying to talk to everyone in the audience when you go to a movie.

Well it does depend on the channel, streamer and community. If you check out some of the streams I listed above you'd find awesome communties with the streamers interacting with the chat. A lot of people don't really care about what game is being streamed and are just there for the community. It's really nothing like your example.

I've watched some live streams before and I always find the chat distracting. There's this constant conversation happening off to the right and I'm trying to focus on the video, gets quite annoying for me so I don't really bother with live streams anymore, or massive public chatrooms for that matter.

To each their own I guess.

That's fair enough and I understand where you're coming from. Sometimes I just want to watch but other times I just like hanging out and chilling out in the chat.

I just tried to watch the awesome games done quick stream but even after allowing every script on the site all i see is a shitty pink box where the stream should be.
The only extensions i use are NoScript and AdBlock plus, my flash-player is up to date.
Any ideas?

any large event will have them... this is why i only watch smaller streams (largest i watch gets roughly 100 ppl and only 14 or 15 type in chat)
