Eragon and the Inheritance cycle is a nice mix of medieval fantasy; The DaVinci Code was moderately enjoyable; 1984 by George Orwell had some provocative points on the shortcomings of modern society.

World War Z by: Max Brooks, it's a alternate history detailing the events of a zombie apocalypse through different point of views. I hear the audiobook is recommended to.

I don't normally like Audio books, but given the style the book is written, it seems like it'd be pretty neat to listen to.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

small review from amazon

Winner of the Whitbread Book of the Year

'Outstanding...a stunningly good read' Observer

'Mark Haddon's portrayal of an emotionally dissociated mind is a superb achievement... Wise and bleakly funny' Ian McEwan

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a murder mystery novel like no other. The detective, and narrator, is Christopher Boone. Christopher is fifteen and has Asperger's Syndrome. He knows a very great deal about maths and very little about human beings. He loves lists, patterns and the truth. He hates the colours yellow and brown and being touched. He has never gone further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds a neighbour's dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down.

I picked up The Giver by Lois Lowry from a used bookstore as, for whatever reason, recently I've been going back and reading books I read in Middle/High school. I enjoy it, and had no idea it was a series.

Alright, The whole Discworld series is your not-so-typical fantasy series, set on a flat world, held by four giantic elephants, held by a enormous flying turtle, called The Great A'Tuin. Taking inspiration and/or parodying elements from Folklore, Lovecraft, Tolkien, Mythology, and some more, including the real world.
The whole series is great, but you should start by "The Colour of Magic" which relates the story of Rincewind, a useless, coward wizard who has no interest whatsoever on adventuring, but has been forced to by circumstances, and Twoflowers, the first Tourist of the Discworld, accompanied by his trusty, ferocious Baggage.

John Green <3. If you do read another book by him, read Looking for Alaska first. It's so amazing.
I don't really have any other book suggestions...

If you can say what genres you like more, I can advice you books accordingly. But anyway, Notes from Underground is a really nice one to read.
