Rockstar, 2k Launcher and Origin.
BUT EA is currently testing launcher that is much worse than Origin, and they are looking forward to retire Origin soon, but new launcher is so bad that I kind of wish that Origin stays LOL, new one doesnt even have offline mode SMH.

As for Ubisoft, uPlay was really bad, but Ubisoft Connect is much much better, so its kind of OK TBH, it runs pretty fine, its reliable and fast.

Someone mentioned Epic, well TBH, don`t buy games on Epic then, for some of us who use Unreal Engine quite often, it is quite helpful, though sure, some improvements are more than welcome.

ALL except Steam

I don't mind Itch and GOG as they are optional, you can download games from the respective websites and launch them like it's 1998.

I do mind that there's Uplay/Rockstar/EA inside Steam games though. Battlenet not as much, as those games aren't on Steam and are separated completely from the ecosystem, they don't interfere with my Steam experience and if I wanna play diablo/starcraft/warcraft I even think of them differently. Yes it's not objective but it's what it is.

We need a launcher that launches other launchers.

All, except Steam, GoG and EGS. Oh and Potatoe.

Steam is the obvious launcher to keep around. GoG is the alternative for classic games and the DRM stuff. EGS simply because, it is the only launcher out there that can push to not have all the market, plus they are somewhat user friendly. Not the best, but also not the worst. Yeah buying exclusivity sucks, but as long as it is temporary, i don't mind, gives me time to play games on backlog and well, if it comes to it, i could use the EGS 10โ‚ฌ coupon during sales to get something even cheaper than usual.

You also forgot microsoft/xbox launcher, playstation launcher and probably a few more.

The Itch launcher also deserves to exist, imo. It's lightweight and entirely optional. It's just a convenient way to navigate your collection and download games. No DRM, trackers, bloatware, background services, obnoxious store ads, etc.

I'm also glad that itch as a platform exists. I don't care for 99.99% of their games, but it's a good outlet for budding indie developers. Baba is You had its start there.

I personally use Playnite as my frontend, so I rarely even look at the individual launchers, but sadly they still need to be running in the background to install and run games.

I'm not familiarised with Itch, i know it exists but never bothered using it. I thought it was a downgraded GOG to some extent, as for indies benefitting being there, i have no clue how that works, but sales wise, the game should be on steam obviously if you want it to have success, or sell out to EGS for quick cash (hopefully used to expand the experience or make things better).

One thing I like in Epic's launcher is that many games are playable straight from the .exe. Just make a shortcut and it runs on its own. Of course you still need the launcher to install games in the first place. And unfortunately it doesn't work for every title I tried. So yeah, still not a fan of this one.

EDIT: And thumbs up for Gog - I never used their launcher, but I like that it is an option, not a necessity.

Not many people know this, but a lot of Steam games are also DRM-Free! :) You can even get some of Valve's games to run DRM-Free.

I wouldn't mind if the Rockstar launcher went the way of the dodo, by far one of the most redundant of the bunch.
The one I actually expect to be next on the chopping block tho is Battle net (or however the hell it's called now), if Microsoft shut down the Bethesda launcher after acquiring the company it makes sense that one is next since they're in the process of buying Activision.

Honestly only want to see Epic vanish because of their business tactics. If they hadn't started all their exclusivity crap, they'd have been more then welcome.

Everything but gog and steam can go away.

Well, I guess I'd keep EGS too, several of the free games I had on my gog/steam wishlist and now I don't have to buy them.

I do not understand the amount of hate for EGS, I understand disliking the inconvenience and I don't like Epic myself but let's stop pretending it's even close to the absolute worst. The biggest argument against them, the exclusivity, works better against Oculus, but I don't know if they have a launcher so I'm voting Rockstar.

At first I wanted to say all of them.
However I don't have negative feelings about GOG's launcher because it always you to integrate all other launchers into one..

Rockstar, Battle.net and Origin (in that order) should be next. All 3 are completely useless IMO.
Only one that's decent besides Steam and GOG is Uplay.
Epic may well surprise us one day with their planned updates.
