You can already list all topics you created here : https://www.steamgifts.com/discussions/created

It would be nice to be able to list all posts you created as well, to have a way to keep a track of them.
To grab a permanent link of them later, etc...

Something like : https://www.steamgifts.com/discussions/myposts or https://www.steamgifts.com/discussions/history

Good idea, if the infrastructure can handle it.

Also, it would be good if you could see and edit or at least delete past messages left in ex whitelisted giveaways and groups that you are no longer member.

That's a good idea. To be more specific, if one has an entry in a GA, they should be able to edit/delete their messages (and potentially to see all messages), even if they have since been blacklisted by the GA creator or are no longer on his/her whitelist.

The same should apply to group GA that ended. I'd like to be able to revisit the discussion of some group GAs that I won, but in some cases the group no longer exist and all members are removed, so obviously the discussion there is not accessible to anyone.

Much better would be options for search posts and topics by specific users.

Ye sound like good ideas, but would that be too much for the backend side? keep track of every post by all users..

our message history only goes back so far, so i seriously doubt they would add something that would likely triple the database size in only a few months... if anything CG is trying to shrink it, not expand it.

They already keep all messages with the person who post them. There is no need for another database to do so.
On the other hand the server will be more solicited if they add this function

then why did CG shrink and delete our message history if it doesn't effect DB size? there wouldn't of been a need..

I don't know why. But if the message is'nt delete in "discussions" it doesn't effect the DB (unless they do it wrong...)

messages aren't deleted from that time-frame. yet he still removed our history.. i'd have to assume it was for a reason, and the most logical reason would be for DB speed/size.

Displaying posts history is only displaying currently existing posts in DB, that you could find by manually inspecting each threads you replied.

That could even be scripted (inefficiently) from client side.

i'm aware of this, but CG still went in and removed our history from messages.. there must of been a reason, and logically the only reason one would do that is for database purposes. so if that was indeed the reason, i doubt he would add a feature that has even more "history" then the message reply history contained prior to the removal.

I think there is confusion here.
CG may prune/delete/archive messages to save resources.
But that is not incompatible with displaying posts that are still in database.

i never said it was incompatible or impossible to happen at all. i know for a fact it is a very possible feature. i still just doubt it would ever be added due to resource saving.

edit: i don't mean to argue about it, if it is possible to add without significant performance decrease then i'm all for it..

I'm not sure if the site could handle it as it even deletes notifications from a few months ago - but if it could, it would be really nice. Hard to look up past, but interesting conversations at current system.

I would like to see this feature in place. And also other features related to search in discussions.

I'd like to have this feature available. This is very achievable and it shouldn't have to put any stress on the servers at all if done right.

Already missed that several times, but also thought: "There has to be a good reaon, why it wasn't implemented yet.", so I've never suggested it.
