Can't enter into giveaway, that is on my account, only for the free weekend peiod.

So, yes. I also tried the sync function, but it still says, I have that game (Gratuitous Space Battles) in my acc. However, I don't have it permanently, but only for this weekend. Does this mean, that when there is a free-weekend period, then I'll not be able to enter a giveaway, that is about that game, in that weekend?

You have to sync again when it is no longer in your "Recently Played" listing. Until then it acts as if it exists in your account.

In addition to the above notes, once it has fallen off of your account, Force Sync on a Monday or a Tuesday to reset your sync date. This will help to reduce the frequency of such issues to only those Free Weekend games that you choose to play.

Yep, your account auto-syncs with SG once every week (provided your Steam is set public) if this occurs on a weekend, chances are you'll run into this problem. Sync your account on a Wednesday and SG autosync will stay clear of weekends and won't show you as owning free weekend games.

He won both times "2 months ago"; he may have won the second time before he had time to activate the first winning.
That game was free for sometime, somehow, somewhere... SG was crawling with it. Those giveaways didn't have many entries so odds of winning was high and there were enough giveaways created that people could win a second giveaway before cashing in the first.

I got it for free somehow too (don't remember if someone gave it to me or if I won it somewhere other than steamgifts)...

It thinks you own it because of the free weekend. You won't be able to enter giveaways for the game until it ends and clears out of your account. If you are fortunate it will do so on Sunday or Monday. If you are unlucky it may take longer.

My advice: I think you only need to sync once a week so don't do it while there is a free weekend promotion ongoing. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are generally the 'safest' days to sync.
