They check random profiles for people doing lots of private group giveaways and then add to ask for invites.

If it is public, they will just join without giving a damn about what the group is about.

I've gotten a lot of invites from Russian groups. I'm scared.

Yeah I guess I'm just not cool enough to get these random requests. :'(

What I do get a lot of and don't really understand is random people inviting me to join public groups.

I've gotten a few adds before, some people just beating around the bush until they ask...
"So i noticed you don't play TF2 anymore, can I have some stuff? xD"
then I say some crazy absurd story to keep them on hold, last one I did I told the guy hold on I think a burglar is breaking into my house, I keept him waiting and chatting for like 15 minutes lol

2 thing: Russian random groups and TF2 hoarders wanting your hats when you used to play TF2 years ago. That's my case.

They're very friendly: they just want to let you know that your account has been compromised. Luckily, they can fix it if you just give them your password real quick.

Yeah, I got one as well, and I'm even more baffled because I don't tend to do trading or play multiplayer games. There's just no reason for a random request like that.

Because they're all scammers, nobody can trust anyone.

Just had a beggar today, saying he had "no games to play". Had 5 games that he never touched including Metro 2033...

they are hired hitmans coming to kill your games, they are taking their time, like a turtle to the sea.

This happened to me yesterday again, some random guy added me and I thought he might want to trade, bit he didn't. Maybe people just think this is Facebook where having thousands of friends is a status symbol...

Check their profile. Is there any russian? Anyway, your answer is they script the invites.
