Is there a way I can put a link in my trade thread to directly link the "I want" section?

Most people seem to find trade threads by searching for the game they want. So "I have" isn't important to them. My "have" is huge, so I'd like to add a link to automatically drop down to the "want" section.

If this can't be done now but would be easy to add, is it worth adding?

You mean a link to a certain part of your post? Markdown only supports anchors on headings by default. Meaning that you'd have to insert a heading between HAVE and WANT, which IIRC is impossible as those are generated before any text you write.

Yes. It could link to either the words "I want..." which I didn't write, and is in every trade post. Or just below that, where I can type.

you'd have to insert a heading

I guess "I want..." on the page isn't a heading? I did try adding ?i%20want to the url, and it didn't work. But I don't know anything about html.

No way for me to add a heading at the top of the "want" section?

The site isn't HTML at the start, you are writing your posts in markdown, which is then displayed in the browser as HTML. So you need to think within markdown's specifications, which normally only lets you link a heading (something in the # Heading format). This is what you would have to insert above the WANT list, but the way trade posts are configured, right now I think it is impossible.

OK, thank you.

I do have that kind of heading in my trade post, hashtagHAVE

And sure enough, adding ?have to the url doesn't work.

Of course, since that is still not markdown. To have an internal link, you'd need something in the following format: [link name](#I want...)

How about putting your haves in your first reply post (reply to your own thread, that is) and using the permalink for that post to link people to it?

That will work, though I haven't seen it done.

Here's another idea: have two threads, one with haves, one with wants. Link from one to the other as you see fit. (Then, unlike my previous idea, you don't either mess up the search properties of your thread or have to duplicate the same information in two places.)

Thanks, this might work for me.

Need to give it some thought.
