I know most people will tell me to buy a pair of headphones and a mic instead of using a headset, but you can't do that on an xbox. I was never much into online gaming until I found a few of my old school buddies online. Lately we've been playing games together but I sold my mic long ago. What are some good headsets that will last at least a year? My price range is 50 USD or under, I was looking at a few sets of turtle beach but I heard they break easy, any personal recommendations from the community?

I use Medusa NX stereo, less than $35. Great sound, decent mic.

I can only say what I'm using, which is 75$ on newegg, 65 on Amazon actually.

Genius Cavimanus
It's a 7.1 channel headset with vibration function to add some extra bass, it is nice and comfortable, sturdy too, and nice build material. The sound is pretty great, maybe not audiophile quality, but still fantastic. Has a decent software with it, equalizer presets, and an environment option.

Genius Lychas This one is somewhat cheaper, 35 bucks, and is foldable, but without vibration, or 7.1.

I know it's out of your pricerange, but some extra knowledge never hurts. :P

The Genius Cavimanus is definitely something I have been looking for, but you're right, sadly it is out of my price range. The Lychas however, looks just as good (I'll have to live without the vibration).

Only question though, does it fit the xbox 360 controller? I don't see anything about that on the page and ctrl + f doesn't either.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by fitting the controller, I don't own an Xbox :P

This is 50 bucks though, and XBox is included in the name. :P

Too make sure that the competition wouldn't be able to get into the market, micro$oft made sure that the jack size only worked with certain headsets, pretty much ones that struck a deal with them.

And thanks, those look pretty good.

  1. Buy proper headphones
  2. Buy this: http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=678

Why can't you do that on a Xbox?

Because I want to have the speech from my friends coming through my headset. I could use the mic, but there is only one port. I'd have to stand in front of my tv and put headphones there.
