The superiority complex many users suffer on this forum is sad, why even say this?

Sir, I only own batman, The riddler, and Darth Vader costume so if you are suggesting that is me you are wrong.
:-P

How is it ok just because the guy never gave a game away? Fake giveaways hurt leechers and non-leechers alike.

Pretty sure you get it with a copy of HL2 these days.

BTW, this situation isn't actually all bad because I surprisingly won two giveaways on the same day and already got the other one, which I wanted more than this one. There is still time for me to get this one, but I'm not too hopeful, and it would be disappointing to win a game and not receive it.

Have you tried posting a comment in the giveaway you won to let the gifter know you sent him an invite? Maybe he didn't see it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, normally it's hard to miss the notification but I've seen several screenshots of people with dozens of unanswered invites on this forum. One invite more or less would probably not stand out that much in a case like that, so I guess it's possible.
What game have you won?
Comment has been collapsed.
That's true. If you're not clearing out your notifications for whatever reason, it might be easy to miss a new one. I'm not sure I should specify which game I won because it might reveal the submitter, and I don't think that should be done in public (the no calling out people rule). If you want to chat or PM on Steam, that's fine, but it will have to wait until I get home. It can be a bit hard to handle this stuff on mobile.

This is what the Support button at the top of the page is for.

Right, Support here may be able to help, but not until a week has passed. Since it's only approaching 3 days now, I'm looking into prompting/reminding the submitter to gift the game. I can understand it taking a while if the person's not around, but that's not the case -- he/she has been online recently. I don't know why someone would purposely wait to complete their end of the deal, but who knows. If I can't get in touch with him/her to give a reminder, I'll have to wait out the week and hope I get it, then report the user and giveaway if I don't.

Huh, that seems kind of weird, too -- friend someone, but don't gift the game right away. But I guess everyone works a bit differently, and you did get the game in the end.
Thanks for the info, but it's not the same gifter. Mine was made by a new user here on SteamGifts. That's part of the reason I suspect there might be some issues here, actually.
Comment has been collapsed.
Could be a paycheck issue, could be using some weird client he has to stop using in order to send things (a friend of mine has a chat client set up for steam chat and it shows him on steam but he has no functionality except the chat), could be completely unrelated.

Thanks, but the invitation I sent last night is still pending. I'm at home again, and it's showing up in my client here still in the "Invitations Sent" section of my friends list. Now I know that the mobile app doesn't include that. Does anything odd happen if I try to add someone twice?
P.S. -- The user isn't online right now; I must have just missed him/her.

I'm sorry. That must suck. I hope things get worked out for you.

Yeah, I've read about fake giveaways, but didn't think I'd get caught by one (assuming it is fake). Either I'll actually get the game, since a week hasn't passed yet, or I won't and I'll report the giveaway and contact Support about the user. It won't get me the game, but it might keep others from getting caught like I did.
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess you're both right. Since the 1 week isn't up, I might still get the game, even if I doubt it right now. And I know there are good people on this site. I'm sure they're the vast majority, too, otherwise the site wouldn't run as well as it does.

I would have closed this if the situation was resolved one way or another, but it isn't. I have not received the game in question. As I said elsewhere in this thread (twice I think), I won two games on the same day. One I received and marked as received. The other I have not received, and it is that game that I am talking about in this thread.

I'm not seeing two games in one day listed as received...? For me his profile shows him as having won and received a game 4 days ago and one month ago
Comment has been collapsed.
Simple -- I won 3 giveaways, received 2 and didn't receive 1. The two received games you see on my profile ended 1 month ago (Twin Sector) and 4 days ago (Half-Life 2 Episode One), so they are not the two games mentioned here. There's another, unnamed game I won at the same time as HL2 Ep1, which I have not received. And since I haven't received it, it's not visible in my profile. Clear enough?

I put a comment on the giveaway about adding the submitter as a friend, but I don't see a way to leave a comment on the user's Steam profile (that might be restricted to friends only or something), and don't know where I'd get the giveaway creator's e-mail address from. He/she gets mine here on SG, but I don't think I get it anywhere.

Yes, I do have one comment on my Steam profile. But that's from a different user, for a different game, won in a different giveaway, on a different site. :) I haven't been contacted by the submitter of the giveaway discussed here. Thanks for the suggestions, but I've got to go now, so I'll check back on this thread tomorrow.

So you didn't get your FREE game. You poor thing.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, yeah. That pretty much the whole problem here; the guy (or gal) didn't get their game despite entering the giveaway and winning. It is fairly problematic for all parties involved- everyone else who entered the same giveaway -as points were lost and the poster of the giveaway has yet to be reprimanded for this. Sarcasm in your post aside, that's the message.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just seems too much whining in my opinion because this person did get a free game from a free giveaway where he/she had to use free points to enter. That is all.
It's not like he lost his/her house to a scam or something.

Why would that annoy you? They won after all, no different than a purchase. If I choose to not deliver I would be at fault so I am obligated. I don't like impatient people either but someone adding for a giveaway is fine unless I state something like I am delivering via email. I receive friend request everyday and couldn't be bothered by getting upset or annoyed but such a common (and valid) act.
As for it being up to the gifter as to when he must deliver that is partially incorrect. As you mentioned, the gifter has 7 days. Yes he can string it out that long but who does that really reflect poorly on if you choose to make someone wait simply because they added you?
Comment has been collapsed.
By obligation, Ya if I had gotten rude people like that I would be annoyed too. When people added me it's more "Hi won XXXXX from steam gifts". In otherwords that they are trying to bring it to my attention.
As for being same as purchase, The only part I was saying would be the same is that your obligated to deliver. So a giftee is like a buyer in that sense. (So to get mad about doing what you should do is silly).
Though in your case with giftees that demand, I would be annoyed. (not just by act of them adding)

"Pretty much the general attitude for most of the giveaways people have won from me and added me (fortunately only a small number did that) was to just basically say "Give me the game now"."
That's a urine-poor attitude. If that's their stance, I'd seriously consider telling them to do one, and taking a strike against my name.
Comment has been collapsed.
Since you missed it too I guess I wrote it poorly. The point about it being the same as purchase that I was making is the fact that your obligated to deliver. If you don't you get a big fat "Not Received" point.
There is nothing wrong with a person adding someone either... Just as long as they dont beg/rush
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, the submitter has a few more days before the week is up. However regarding adding people, the FAQ has this entry:
Q: I won a giveaway, but haven't received the gift.
A: The giveaway creator has 1 week to email it before you can mark the gift as "Not received". If it's been more than 24 hours since the giveaway ended try and add the giveaway host to Steam and remind them to send the gift.
If they add you immediately, then I agree, that's being impatient. But if they wait 1 day or more, they're just following SG's suggestion in the FAQ. And I agree with Strykerraven that stringing it out to the full 7 days just because you can isn't exactly great. I think that when a deal is made, you should try to hold up your end of it as soon as possible.

Ah, I didn't think of that. We do have one group in common, but it's the official Holiday Sale Community Group. I'm not sure I can leave a comment there or anything. But if you have a suggestion about how to use that group to try to contact the submitter, please let me know. Thanks.

A few days ago, I won a giveaway and was hoping to get the game promptly. That didn't happen, and after looking up some info on the submitter, I started to think it wasn't a real giveaway for a combination of reasons, but I don't know for sure, of course. I've seen the submitter online, so I sent a friend request last night, two days after the giveaway ended, to remind him/her about sending the game (the FAQ suggests this if it's been over a day). I think it's been ignored though, since I saw the user online this morning and the Steam mobile app is not showing my invitation now, though it did on the client at home. If I am being ignored, this seems like a strong indication that I'm not going to get the game I won. I know I have to wait for seven days until I can provide not received feedback, but is there anything else I could try to do before then to try to avoid having to give negative feedback? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Edit: Apparently the mobile app doesn't display the same "Invitations Sent" section that the desktop client does. The request is still pending in my friends list. I didn't know there would be a difference, but it's good to know that now. So the friend request wasn't rejected at least, but it wasn't accepted either, and the user was recently online, so it still looks like it may be being ignored. shrug
Edit 2: Well, I just noticed that one week has passed and I can now leave "not received" feedback. Since I still haven't received the game, that's what I did, along with reporting the giveaway. I had hoped it wouldn't come to this, but oh well. Thanks to everyone for the advice and help. I'll close the thread now.
