I like total war series, and lord of the rings battle for middle earth was one of my favorites.
Another good one is Age Of Empires

Age of Mythtology is great one.

Also, C&C and expansions, AoE and Rise of Nationz

I really liked Company of Heroes. Haven't played it as much as I would have wanted, though.

I used to like them when i didn't know how they are suppose to be played, then i discovered how people play this genre online and I've changed my mind. I like to play rts like a noob convincing myself that my choices in game are good and usefull(when they aren't) and not using premade strategies for various cases with little variations that make win the player with faster fingers. I prefer turn based strategy games.

Warcraft III (with The Frozen Throne) is by far my favorite one. I don't play much RTSes nowadays though. Loved Starcraft II's campaign!

It's a difficult choice between the starcraft and the warcraft series. Blizzard does amazing story driven RTS games.

Yes, sort of. Mostly the Grand Strategy variety. My favorite is probably Knights of Honor.

My favorite RTS is probably Dawn of War. As far as whether or not I like the genre, I'd say that I like most single-player campaigns. To be successful to any degree in multiplayer requires a mindset I don't have, and I don't really want, so I don't particularly like playing them, at least with the public. Though that's true for most games, really.
