Thank you cg for implementing this much needed feature. While it won't solve the recent concerns about inappropriate content, it will surely make the discussions more user-friendly and, hopefully, a bit less toxic.
A small step in the right direction but an important one.

can we setup a hide all adult giveaways?
like 95% of my ignored game list are those 3by3 puzzles
they just keep endlessly pumping them out....

I wonder if that's doable from a technical point of view, the system just sees them the same way as any other game or app on Steam, how would you even filter them without going through the very exhaustive task of creating a list of 18+ titles?

🙄…
For example, Steam itself stipulates as a whole that it is to be used by those 13 years of age and older. (There appear to be additional provisions in different countries.)
Different countries and cultures have different restrictions on expression and related "age limits.
Personally, I am negative about restrictions on overall freedom of expression.
However, I would probably recommend the use of filters that take advantage of add-on features.
Also, if SG had the ability to use filters at each person's discretion without the use of add-ons, that would be desirable.
*A genre filter would be available with ESGST
(But only if it is a burden on server operations or if CG does not have financial problems that negatively affect the long-term operation of SteamGifts.)
I also feel that a different approach is needed with regard to the restrictions of some of the games that appear to be poorly made.
Maybe some people could share and filter information on what is identified as shovelware.

I can't really imagine how 100% shovelware filter would work, maybe adding new games to giftable list manually when people will want do a giveaway, so some team of mods would decide if it is worthy game, but that is impossible for mods resources.
Also, that isn't a community of gamers, but mostly of +1 collectors and at some part also of card farming alts, which would go mad for loosing even that stuff. Case of trash 1P games, even CV cheat shovelwares.

That's one way of thinking and looking at things.
If there was such a thing as a filter management group supervised by SG management, the discussions among the people in it would always be heated.😁
For now, peace is likely to be maintained if each person utilizes individual filter functions and add-ons.

A quick solution is to hide games less than 5P. I know that would hide some old classics as well. But imo its a small price to pay for sanity.

If the Create New GA screen simply had a checkbox to identify a game as category Adult, and the community guidelines obliged GA creators to identify those games accordingly, we could easily filter them out. And I'd feel no guilt BL'ing users who fail to use the checkbox for those games.

Nice. This is exactly what many of us where asking for, I don't really have much of an use for it right now since the highly controversial threads I would have hidden are now gone but it's nice to have the function if I ever need it.
This definitely attenuates a fair bit of the anger I felt with the changes from last week.

I will probably never understand why it is for people that complicated just ignore and not open threads they don't like.
Edit. Is that feature available to do without opening thread? That would be great, I would camoflaged all my giveaway threads under LGTBQ shortcut and pride flags.

For me personally:
I actually like to only see relevant discussions on the page at the bottom.
I never hit the main Discussions page, unless I'm specfically searching for something.
Now on the left I can use this to just display the current ongoing bundles (instead of all the irrelevant other "deals").
And on the right, I can just show only the relevant discussions I'm interested in as well.
I don't generally follow historical, long running threads.

A number of users have requested the ability to hide discussions. That feature has been added to the site today. Although this does not resolve our recent concerns about certain types of content, it can be a useful feature to hide ongoing topics that are not of interest to you. When you view a discussion you'll see a new icon in the top right, next to the bookmark button. Clicking this button will hide/unhide the discussion. You can view all discussions that you are currently hiding using the new Hidden link in the left column of the forum.
