Man, I wish I liked metroidvanias. All these games are so beautiful and seem like so much fun. But 2d metroidvanias bore me to oblivion. What a shame.

I used to think too that "oh dear, YET ANOTHER 2d platformer, i'm getting tired of those", but the incredible level of polish and sheer ambition of this game is beyond compare, i highly suggest to give it a shot.

Maybe some day. I've bought enough 2d metroidvanias that I thought I might like just to end up dropping them after 15 minutes like all others to be a little more skeptical. I like 2d platformers, I just don't like 2d exploration platformers (metroidvanias). But there's just so many of them and they all seem so great. I feel like I'm missing out on the fun.

Well, in this case it's not like "let's make our second game roughly the same" and more of "our promised DLC got out of hand so we making it into a game". Playable Hornet campaign was one of the Kickstarter goals, they just upped the scale.

Will probably buy this on release - still need to go back and finish the first game though (stopped because.. reasons Path of Pain, to be precise :') )
I wonder if they'll make a third hollow knight game as well - they didn't meet the kickstarter goal for it, but that didn't stop them from putting the Colosseum of Fools in the game despite not meeting the stretch goal for it before ;)

I love the first game. Yes, it gets difficult the further you go, but the game never cheats. All you have to do is learn. It's always satisfying defeating a difficult boss in this game.
Team Cherry proves that if you give some devs a chance on Kickstarter, they might end up creating fantastic, must-have titles. They also know how to handle the Kickstarter backer part. And the best part of all? They're not controlled by greed.
So hearing the news that they are creating a whole new game instead of a DLC is just wonderful.
All I can say now is keep fighting the good fight, Team Cherry!

I am actually excited for this one! i suuuuuuck at metroidvanias and as a result avoid them like the plague but Team Cherry managed to make a game where it doesn't matter if you suck at it, you'll have fun anyway. yesssss!!!!
