Buffon just needed to replace his bets before the penalty shootout. England will never win these. :D

LOL, What did I say? They never win penalty shoot outs!

Phew. That was close.
Really mad about the fact that we couldn't manage to score a single goal when we were clearly dominating the first half and beyond. Balotelli screwed up quite a lot of good chances.
Anyway, really looking forward to the semi-final. We have quite a long history with Germany, I'm sure it'll be a great match.

But he did score first - via penalty ^^
You should claim your money!

You should've bet 5000 euros, so maybe now you'd want to kill him. :P
With how he's been playing lately, that would be a good riddance.
If I was Prandelli, I'd probably take his ass and his diva complex, and staple them on the bench.
Did it transpire that I really don't like the guy?

Pirlo seems to have balls! Many of them ^^
...using a penalty shootout to remind England, that it never had a worldclass keeper! ;D
To me it looked like England was going for penalties since overtime. Their media claimed Hart to be the best keeper in the world, so they might have thought they could win a shootout against Buffon!!? Seriously?? Probably they were just tired.
As a German I'm quite excited about the semifinal! I'm happy with that constellation, even if England seemed to be the (much) easier opponent.

Today's match promises to get interesting. Spain is definately the favourite IMO but Portugal has a relistic chance of winning as well.
I think it will be important who scores first. Portugal taking the lead could make it really hard for Spain as Portugal's defence is playing well overall (their left side probably being their weakspot but Spain's right side is considerably weaker than the left as well - I wonder if Navas will be in the starting formation this time?) and they're able to play strong counterattacks.
A Spanish lead will make it hard for Portugal if they can't stop Spain's ball-possession play. So far Portugal has been most dangerous in the last 10-20 minutes of their matches, so as long as Spain doesn't achieve at least a two goal lead they will have to stay very concentrated until the last second.
My guess is ESP 2 - 1 POR

I support Portugal. Much will depend on Ronaldo. I hope he has a good day, otherwise the game could be very unbalanced, because Spain is in a class by itself. Their only problem is, that they play their short-pass-style football very defensive nowadays. The last 20 meters are the hardest, when you don't have attackers. But that's probably the style of the EURO... not sure if there was a team with 2 forwards in the quaterfinals.
Oh yes: Giveaway open again. But it will not be entered, I fear. But hey, there is still a final and I will will paste the dirct link then :D

Shitty game. Portugal played so motivated and except for the end they did a good job, considering Spain is the better team. Portugal would've deserved this victory. What a pity.
Looking forward to Spain getting beaten in the finale! :) They don't deserve anything else after crappy games like this.

What an awful match by both teams, but I have to say... it babbles me how Portugal, can be this bad when they have all to win, against a Spanish team that looked burned out, yet they Spanish played better... in the most boring match so far.
I am still happy about Spain reaching the finale, they deserved it alot more than Portugal...
Also, it make me smile to see Ronaldo's look after they lost, he wanted to be "look at me the great hero" but instead failed his team.. he should have stepped up and shoot first.

Funny how people can view things completely differently. I was absolutely surprised by the Portuguese game (in a positive way) in the first 90 minutes. They were willing to win this thing and didn't play as defensively as they used to. Of course they didn't succeed, but it was close for a long time and the Spanish are the better team and under this circumstances Portugal did pretty well. Finally in the overtime they got exhausted, but that is understandable, since they tried.
The Spanish team on the other hand seemed to be pretty bored and defensively until the 110th minute, as if they don't want to win as much as the Portuguese do. I understand that this isn't the glorious team of 2008 or 2010, but still it was disappointing as hell and they can do a lot better, as seen in the last 10 minutes. But they didn't for whatever reason and this is what made me root for Portugal since the second half. Too bad they didn't make it.

I think both teams actually played okay to good in the regular time if you look at their tactical setups. Best man on Portuguese side was definately Paulo Bento, his approach to start much less defensive and press early like crazy really surprised me. And apparently it surprised del Bosque as well, at least my guess is he started with Negredo to deal with a Portugal playing as defensive as they played against Germany.
It's amazing how Spain could completely change her tactical approach with their replacements in the second half without disorganising the team, though. I think Spain and Germany are the only teams in the tournament that are this flexible.
The 0-0 after 90 minutes was fair, both teams didn't really deserve victory at this moment. Spain clearly dominated the overtime and they would have deserved to already win after 120 minutes, so I'm glad they won the penalty shoot-out.

IMO, not as a portuguese guy, I have to say, this wasn't fair. The referee was on the side of Spain.

Hard to guess today's match, everything seems possible.
I say it will be a reverse game of the century: GER 4 - 3 ITA

Here goes nothing. Tonight is the real final, for all I am concerned.
The only team I was really afraid of in this tournament was Germany, and here we are.
I'm not too convinced by how my team has been playing recently, but as Italian I can't but believe in a ITA 2 - GER 1. The curse will hit once again.

We never won against Italy in any final round:

I'd rather have a Dota 2 match to play than to watch the game, that makes me sad. But it was deserved for them. They'd better win against Spain now.
Edit: Oh wow, a late consolation goal
Comment has been collapsed.
I CALLED IT. 2-1. Why the hell didn't I bet on that. I guess the curse IS real.
Honestly I feel like that penalty kick wasn't completely legit, but whatever. It didn't change much anyway, and you can't take away a consolation goal from anyone. Really enjoyed the match though, even if maybe I would've expected a bit more from Germany.
We'll win against Spain for you too, pals.
Actually, does anyone know why Buffon was mad at the end of the match? I must've missed something.

Germany could play better (and I expected more). All those Italian player that were alone in front of the German goal. Lol
I guess he was angry because they got that penalty (or maybe because he didn't block it).
I hoped that Germany would be the one to pwn Spain. =/

Yes, unfortunately their defense wasn't exactly up to par in this match. If we didn't screw up some chances, we could've scored even more goals.
Anyway, that feels really odd somehow. Buffon usually doesn't have a bad temper, and it's not like him to act like that simply for not being able to block a penalty kick. He could've been mad about Germany getting the penalty in the first place, though.
In any case, we'll try our best against Spain as well. :P

I think this was one of the best matches so far and I am abit sad that this was not the final... I've heard alot of "Italy is so defenssive and Italy play so boring or even Italy wont even make it from the Group" I've have faith in them untill today, since I really like the new German team, but it was a deserved won for Italy today and I really hope they win against Spain...
Both teams deserve alot of respect and remember. Germany is the youngest team in the EC, they will be a strong factor the next 4-6 years. Once again, what a great match!

As I said previously, this was the real final for me. Germany is a great team, and was probably the biggest threat in the tournament, in my opinion. Also there's quite a lot of history between the teams that usually ends up creating amazing games every time they find themselves one against the other.
Really looking forward to more matches over the next years. Who knows, maybe this young Germany will finally be able to break the Italian curse. :P
