I don't have to buy even a 360, maybe PS1 or PS2, and new generation console games are expensive. Yes we will be doomed.

DRM Free? Then we will be doomed in pirate hell.

DRM-Free prevents piracy more than it promotes it.

While, flip side. Uplay does the opposite, since legitimate customers can't actually buy working products, and end up having to torrent working copies. -.-

That's exactly my point.

DRM-Free prevents piracy more than it promotes it.

I am a big DRM-Free advocate. Pirates gonna pirate whether or not it has DRM or not, and being DRM-Free and giving legitimate buyers less headaches gives one less excuse for pirates to feel justified in breaking the law.

Too be honest, I like steam better then DRM free stuff. There is a lot of file management going on and I'm sure that I will lose most my games if I had as much DRM free stuff as I have on steam right now. I just wish we could go back to physical copies (that actually hold the game and not just a steam key).

drm free enthusiasts are THAT many that they were going to pirate the steam/whatever release, but then 'oh it's on gog, i'll buy it instead'?

drm free enables piracy & promotes good customer relations, the user chooses piracy or payment

if the implication is drm 'causes' piracy, then 'gamers' are greedy brats causing problems (unless you ONLY mean legitimate owners that use cracks to make it easier, which is fine... but how often do people do that? forum threads all over are filled with 'ubisoft sucks i will pirate everything')

it's easier & less worrisome to pirate drm free, no broken cracks, no waiting months due to denuvo, no performance difference, etc

i should probably point out that the comment you replied to was pretty lazy sarcasm (the 'pirate hell' one)

try buying and running cold fear from amazon, not only will it not run, the fake system files it puts in your system will break other games so you will have to roll back to a restore point.
one of the dead spaces. the one where toward the beginning you run a gauntlet with no weapons has a bug or DRM that when you use the steam version and new game plus you fall through the floor in one of the gauntlet rooms (a clipping type issue, no death just falling forever)
sony was infamous for their rootkit that would disable your cd player
one dev software's DRM destroyed art assets of devs who used it
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameMaker:_Studio
DRM in general breaks games so they won't work with compatibility mode when a new version of windows comes out
i have 1276 games on GOG and would have more on there instead of steam if more devs would launch there.

UPLAY! Here! I said it! All the Ubi games since 2009 are requiring both Steam and UPlay clients open. Guess where i shop for Ubi games....And never, ever buy a standard edition. If you want a semi complete edition you buy Deluxe or Gold, but never standard editions.

The problems Steam is facing is completly unrelated to security. You're not bypassing it, stuff is being sent to you from behind the security wall.

It's all good. All of you can come round to my place and play Guantlet IV on my Sega Megadrive. We can have up to four players if I can work out how to hook up the multi-tap correctly.

Valve will push their Steam Guard Mobile thing even more and continue to pretend that they don't need any form of real technical support within the next year.

I love Valve, but the way they've been handling tech support and customer service has been piss poor. You cannot just have a random employee who normally works on DOTA 2 hat implementation decide to check the Steam client or server and either potentially mess it up or miss some critical oversight like what just happened.
