What method to ignore OS preference in wishlist would be preferable?
So you want an extra filter for the wishlist section? Because you can just change the OS filter on SG to "all" so all games on your steamwishlist should be displayed independently of your running OS. This should actually be the default setting.
Sorry, I have the feeling I just misunderstand your post, but maybe... it's a bit unclear?

That setting is site-wide, so he can't set it to "All" for the Wishlist browse only and to a specific OS for everything else.
And I agree with him, this should be added.
Edit: Beaten to it. And I slightly misunderstood as well - What he's asking for is to have wishlisted games ignore the OS preference while viewing the general browse page, not the wishlist page.

It probably is unclear.
I want to only see linux games in "All", since that is my preference (I don't want to get games that I'll never play due to needing additional steps or won't run well in WINE) but at the same time I want to see games that I would put in the extra effort to play (games on my Wishlist).
Example:
Random Game #1, windows only, horrible reviews, buggy gameplay, etc. -- Probably not worth the effort of getting to run under linux with WINE/Crossover
Popular Windows Game #1, windows only, good reviews, somewhat buggy gameplay -- Probably worth the effort, but not necessarily (if it looks interesting, probably added to wishlist)
Game on my Wishlist, looks interesting, good reviews -- I would put in the effort to actually run the game.
EDIT: I hit reply on the wrong person, sorry

Actually, what you said before your edit was want I wanted.
But your edit is probably actually better -- have an option to always ignore os preference for wishlisted games.

Well I guess some people could use that! To filter by OS is a pretty new feature, so it could certainly still be tinkered with.
Maybe it would be a good thing to post your suggestion in here so cg, the admin of this site, gets direct feedback for this and can think about implementing it!

Ok. Just did that -- I didn't know it was a new feature, thanks!

No prob!
I assume the userbase that profits from this, and therfore has an opinion on this, is comparably small, so I guess it's not too bad to just post there directly. If cg thinks this can easily be implemented, he might just do it.
Maybe some checkbox like "ignore OS setting for wishlist" or something would be nice.

While I prefer to get games that can run on my platform of choice, for specific games I would not mind running alternative platforms.
For example, Deus Ex only runs on Windows, but I use Mac/Linux (and can use software like WINE or Crossover), so I can play Deus Ex.
