I'm personally not interested in a realistic racing game that doesn't have a cockpit view. The first GRID was great though. I know Codemaster's games are not sims, and lean towards the arcadey side, but they're realistic enough for me that I want to be in the car, not outside of it.

Yeah kinda forgot to mention the missing cockpit view on this one, big mistake if you tell me, previous games had an amazing inside work, even if only 5% of the people used it (these records were only from the online players), its good enough for them to put some extra work on the inside of cars, even if its only for the extra cam and for people to enjoy the looks on the inside :(. Also loved the first one, still playing it today!

I really despise racing games where if you make the smallest mistake, you need to restart the race.
For this reason, I enjoyed Split/Second more than I enjoyed Grid. Although some aspects of Grid were fun, it's really, really annoying when your car handles inconsistently and the AI is ridiculous (I follow the same line, yet the AI can corner perfectly/get out of scraps unscathed while I explode/hit walls, sometimes assisted by other cars -__-).
If it LOOKS arcadey, you'll just have to wait for a demo or something to see how it plays.

The 'Flashback' system they implemented on Grid was to prevent those situations. Lots of players aren't 'hardcore' and simply enjoy a good racing game, and the Flashbacks really help on those cases. About the AI, i can't really tell because i haven't ran into any of those situations, except the ones where i'm turning a corner and the bastard AI hits me and ruins me the lap lol, that's just rare to happen, gladly it didn't bother me the most time ^_^ as far as it goes for Grid 2, can't wait for that demo to come out :D

Hey guys and girls!
I'm a big fan of racing games, and we're almost at the launch of the game from Codemasters, Grid 2.
I loved the first Grid and a lot of Codemasters' work behind other racing games (like the DiRT series), but i'm starting to get somewhat scared (if thats the word i'm looking for) for this new game, and i know i'm not the only one.
I've watched some videos about the game, to check out some of the alpha's impressions and they look quite good, graphically at least, some great smoke fx, etc etc. What really concerns me is the gameplay and the driving itself, it looks too arcadie (i know, its not supposed to be a simulator like Gran Turismo or Forza, or something like that), but the first Grid and the 3 first DiRT games (all, except for 'Showdown') had a fairly good driving and great car deformation/destruction.
Those were the 2 main aspects of the game that worry me in this new game, because they look (to me) very similar to the dissapointment (imo) that DiRT Showdown was in both those aspects, to say the least.
When it comes to tracks, event variety and car selection, well i'm not too worried about that, they never failed to deliver, although DiRT3 could've had more countries/locations, apart from that, it was great!
So these are my thoughts about what i've seen so far about this game that i'm looking forward to, i'd like to see what you have to say about it, if you agree or don't agree with what i think about this.
Also, bear in mind that English is not my main language, so go easy on me if something is misspelled or if some word is out of context, ehh you get what i mean!
Have a rest of a good week,
Cheers!
