It seems like the Ultimate Edition includes all DLCs except the Formula Drift Car Pack.

I only just started 4 on my XBO recently to get 500 Reward points for an achievement from the game. My country doesn't get many offers in the first place, so I jump on stuff like that, gotten maybe $25 of games for free. :P

I have no clue, but I know there are a bunch of free DLC cars to claim.
I assume this is the kind of thing you mean?

Oh... Thanks.
The name and the event itself seem like the same as those in FH3 and FH4. But I don't know if those free award cars are from DLCs or not.
If not, that's what I'm talking about we may no longer get them after the game being delisted or the online service being down.

From the look of it, it seems some cars are locked behind forzathons like in FH3
Comment has been collapsed.
They always have the forzathon events in their games for the last 4 or so forza games, so it is likely to be a an ongoing trend for the distant future. They use this stuff to try and force people to play the game somewhat actively. It's not an agressive thing right now, you can play once or twice a week to get things done and move on. Some of the stuff can be boring long term.
Basically forzathon events rewards you with stuff you can't purchase directly most of the time. I'm assuming forzathon points will be a thing in FM8, just like they exist in FH4 and most likely in FH5. FM7 also has a special ingame shop that rotates 3 cars per week, these cars are usually sold ingame already but they come with a badge of sorts that displays the purchase number of that car and have slightly higher collection value and lower base price (discounted). Meaning, if you are lucky enough, you can buy the number 1 of a specific car in that week. Of course, this is difficult to accomplish.

On PC, the above link is your best bet. Too late to get DLCs though. If you have an XBOne, you also have the option of find a disk copy, I found both previous Horizon games that way.

Well, can't ever happen, so gotta take what you can
Comment has been collapsed.
Probably more practice with the PC by then. FH3 was their first game on Windows.

Can't expect everything to drop down to nearly free. Just happy they have bothered to alert people to the removal date with these games.
More interested in playing Horizon myself, but this has split screen on the One, so I can play with the brats.

For me it's on the real low end especially for an ultimate edition. I'm a fan and tend to wait for a sale if I can but these run into the $90 off sale and even still can be $40 on. It's not a cheap game and Forza does give content. It's more than worth it I think even if you're not a die hard fan but that's just me. It's your cash your choice ultimately.
Sale on this and Horizon may just make me have a place for the Xbox that isn't in storage it turns out. Or I might see if it works decent on Windows 10.

Not aware of other exclusive features, but XBO gets splitscreen multiplayer. Still, it is cross buy and cloud save, so you can always play on PC the rest of the time.

Fair enough. I'm spoiled by Steam sales from years past.
Having said this, I am continually irked by these big companies like MS, EA, Ubisoft that stop selling certain games and/or DLC. What is the legitimate rationale? They have to keep the titles available for download and install on their servers for folks that have already purchased and might wish to reinstall. Why cut off the possibility of future sales? Forza 7 is what - 5 years old? They still sell the consoles the game was released for. And Forza 8 won't be available until next year.
They claim they are continuing to provide full functionality and multiplayer, but how long is that going to last if they game is no longer generating revenue?
Ubi is particularly heinous in this regard. You can still buy the earlier Ass Creed games, but not the DLC. But they will allow you to buy a full gold version of the titles that includes the DLC. Might & Magic 10 is unplayable if you own DLC because they took a server down.
I just have a hard time rewarding companies for this kind of behavior, regardless of how attractive a game may be.

Some games have to be removed because of licenses for stuff they don't own, like cars, music, characters, etc.
Comment has been collapsed.
Essentially what DeltaBlade said.
From what i know, Forza Motorsport 4 and FH1 onwards still has online play. Not sure if previous FM games can do online matches anymore. Some features might be removed early on, like auction house and some other stuff like statistics.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah. Hadn't thought of that, and I guess it makes some sense. Still stinks. It's why I can't buy Blur on Steam. And I don't think there were any car license issues that forced Ubi to remove the Ass Creed DLC or shut down the Might & Magic X server. So MS gets a pass this time, but Ubi is still on my poop list.

Licenses come a long way and it varies from game to game. Most games have license agreements for music for example. Alot of the games that end up removed from the stores are because of this alone. Game becomes too old and not profitable enough to justify renewing the license. Some games simply remove the music or replace it with a different one and release the game again, but most don't do this.
As for the servers being shut down for older games, it is understandable to some extent. Now about not having access to content you paid for, that is indeed a problem. But then again, we are paying for a digital license that eventually ends. Everything you buy digitally can end at any moment if something goes wrong. This is a problem that is more or less common with DLC content. It's a bad move in general and the way the industry is moving, we will see more cases like this going forward. You can already see people commenting every now and then about games being revoked from legit bundles bought years ago.
As for the AC dlc, i'm not familiarised with. Last AC i played was the 4th one and never finished it. And i've been buying every single AC during low prices, i should probably start playing them again.
If i am not mistaking, forza games like, FM2, FM3. The DLC content in those games can't be obtained anymore unless you have a physical copy or a xbox 360 with "download history" for the dlc of those games. I bought all DLC in FM2 back in the day when the game was fresh and i lost access to all of that DLC when my xbox 360 elite died. I bought a new one for 50 bucks, extra cheap a couple months after and before xbox one releasing and i noticed the hardway that i had lost: my save profile (it was local only back then, only FM4 onwards has cloud saving i believe), and along with it, i lost the download history for the DLC for that game. Since the game has no store page anymore, there is no way to get access to DLC content. This issue isn't present in newer games, since the game you own will have a separate tab with dlc content attached to it for you to install (i assume this works for FH1 and FM5 onwards, since they were built for xbox one)

This was an interesting read on the topic: https://culturedvultures.com/forza-end-of-life-process/
Comment has been collapsed.
The topic pretty much describes the problem with forza games. All of the games were delisted from the store at some point.
Perhaps the reason why they do this and have short term agreements is because they are constantly releasing games. If you look at the release history, they have been dishing out a forza game every year, usually comes out a FM or FH game, then the next year we get the other one. Except for now, they decided to up the quality and scale for FM8 and along with that, FH6 will also up the game, FH5 is essentianlly the last Forza game to use the current engine. FM8 is going to be the new base for forza games for a while in the future and FH6 will be the first FH game using the new engine. Part of my speculation believes that FH6 will be in Japan, it is the most requested location and it would make sense to release Japan on the new engine.
In the end, if there is something to blame here, is the release schedule for forza games. There is certainly alot of pressure, so making 4 year agreements for each game makes it "good enough" for the game to have a long lasting playerbase that will eventually die down. So people are constantly seeking out the next game and jump in to play around with it. I'm certain that they would keep the game in the store for longer if the license was longer. They could make a deal for a longer license agreement, sure, but that also means they are dishing out more money for that and it makes no sense to do so, when they release games every year.
Considering that it takes 4 years for a forza game to get delisted after release, you have to consider the fact that in those 4 years after a game is released. You would get 2 new forza games and an upcoming 3rd one by the time that one game gets delisted. Example: FH2 came out in 2014 and got delisted by the time FH4 was about to release in 2018, between these 4 years, you get to play FM6, FH3, FM7.
FH4 is going to get delisted in 2022, so... if you plan on buying FH4 at some point, you could do that near the end for the best price. The big problem with FM7 being delisted though, is lacking a FM game for a year in the storefront.

You can still get FH3 from a site site linked earlier in the topic, but they don't have the DLCs available.

A few reasons to buy FM games:
-forza hub driver rank (the higher the rank, the most rewards you get in forza games per week, usually cash rewards and a one time reward when you launch a new forza game with your profile which is either cosmetics, cars and cash to give you a small boost when starting the game), you get points for playing all forza games;
-to play around with a "simulator", it is one of the best racing games to exist right now. Obviously is short lived since FM8 is coming in 2022 unless it gets delayed;
-collection purposes? idk. I used to collect forza games in physical format but i gave up on that stuff. Just like Halo and Gears. I do once in a while buy physical copies of games that are cheap, usually has to be: exclusive or something worth adding to the collection.
FH4 can't technically be compared to FM7, FH4 uses the base of FM7 and modifies the core of the game to make it more arcade'ish. This on top of having the open world aspect, is what makes FH more popular than FM. If FH used realistic gameplay, the game would loose popularity as it wouldn't be "newb friendly". Games like FM will always be limited in terms of growth, and the best thing they can offer is realism.
I used to be more inclined towards FM games for a long time, i started converting towards FH games when FH2 came out. I still play both sides, but FH games are the ones i seem to enjoy the longest, and that is mostly due to the freedom the game gives to the player. In FM games i find myself most of the time, playing the same 5 tracks and attempting to master every single turn of those tracks, to make "good results", and this is something i do every single game and on the same tracks in each game. This allows you to see the changes from game to game easier but at the sametime, it is boring.
PS: FH games also make more sense to buy in the "end of line" moments, since the DLC for these games involves: new cars and new maps. Some of these new maps (expansions) can be interisting.

Your "non-question" comes across as a question to me. If you are stuck between two options and can't make up your mind and express it "publicly", it sounds like you are asking for feedback to go one way or another. That's the way i see it here. But of course, i could be wrong and you simply wanted to vent your opinion/doubts in here.
Also, you stated you enjoy FH4 more than FM7, and i get the idea you do not own FM7 due to your "doubts" and yet compare both. Half the "wall of text" came to existance because of that as you compared games that have different focus.
Anyways, AC is a good game, wouldn't dare say it quite replaces FM7, but it is still one of the best sims to play right now, so you should be fine.

You can buy the game on a 75% discount for the next 7 weeks. Might not be on Steam, but neither was Forza Horizon 3 and I know people bought that one before it was delisted. This does of course mean we won't see this on Steam if anyone was hoping for that.
Edit - Discount is ending a month before removal, it seems they changed the date for the sale.
Edit again - They extended it now, but still not to the end. Trolling us so we can't just wait.
Standard Edition - US$10
Deluxe Edition - US$15
Ultimate Edition - US$20
The Car Pass DLC from the Ultimate Edition should include various DLCs, but I'm not yet certain if it includes all of them as I can't grab this at the moment. If anyone can confirm missing DLCs, let me know and I'll update the topic.
Edit - Thanks MaximeElbac
