So, there seems to be some confusion as to whether these games can even run on modern computers.
Can't seem to get a straight answer on the steam forums, so I'm asking here.
I already own the games on disc, but the hassle of installing a million fixes before getting it to run makes the low bundle price seem even more attractive.

Will they work on windows 7 x64 systems from the get go?

Let's check ye olde PCGW and find out:

Thief: Gold

Thief II

Thief: Deadly Shadows

From the get go? Yes, yes, and yes.
With modern screen resolutions? Yes, no, no.

But the patching process to get modern screen resolutions doesn't sound all that painful, so not really much of an obstacle there. Sounds like you're good to go.

Thanks. Reading this it's clear that buying the bundle will be a better choice than trying to install the games from their discs. On the other hand, considering I don't see myself playing them any time soon I figure there's no point buying this bundle. I can save my money and buy other games I won't play, but at least they'll be other games. :)

I own disc copies of all three of these games and they can be somewhat painful to get running at times. The better unofficial patches you can find are found here: http://www.thief-thecircle.com/media/main/

Also keep in mind that at all three (As well as System Shock 2) will only run correctly if the process it locked to a single core before it is launched. The patch I found that fixes this is found in this forum thread:

I remember having problems running Deadly Shadows that I bought on Direct2Drive some years ago, but hopefully things have advanced since then.

Hmm. I bought these games last night because they looked good and were on sale. I didn't anticipate any possible problems running them. I just started up Thief Gold and checked out the options menu, and it seemed to operate OK. I didn't do anything else though, and I haven't installed the other two games yet to look at them. But I'll bookmark this thread for possible future use. If I run into trouble, hopefully the information and pointers here will help me get out of it. Thanks.

Much appreciated!
I am going to hold off buying the bundle until I'm 100% sure that they will run without too much problems.

Just tried my Steam-Theif2 for a min, runs fine on my win8-consumer preview with a 1680x1050 display (on default settings without any tweaking, was looking like a old game ofc). Thief1 uses basically the same engine, so should run as well. Thief3 is still downloading :)

Ps: Also no problems on the Deadly Shadows training mission. 64 bit win btw...

I installed Thief 3 (disc version) on my Win 7 64bit, started it up, played it, nor problems at all.
