not exactly it but... blackadder, ww1. Also, north and south.
Baa Baa black sheep is closer.
MASH.
Edit : ok i looked it up, piece of cake, the price of peace, in pursuit of peace, no regrets, my chief and my regiment, the gallant men, convoy, combat, fortunes of war, dunkirk, four tank men and a dog, seem to be close enough to your wish. Note that the last one was extremely popular in eastern europe and having watched it is interesting for its pro soviet propaganda ( no less than us tv series thought ).

Well, your request for a post-war-soldier-going-home movie is a bit difficult to come up with. When the soldiers came home, they wanted to put the war behind them, so you don't find a lot of movies like that made in the 40's and 50's. Years later, the Vietnam war sparked all kinds of movies, but that's a totally different ball of wax.
If you're looking for a drama about post-WWII, the only 40's movie that comes to mind is "The Best Years of Our Lives."
[Edit: I found two more from 1946 - Murderers Among Us, and Till the End of Time.]
If you're willing to step out of the 40's and 50's, you might take a look at this page for more suggestions. If you're into books, you might try Soldiers From the War Returning.

i think i might've made it a bit ambiguous, i'm looking for recently made(anything after the year 2000 is fine) movie/tv series set in the 40s/50s (like mad men, band of brothers, the pacific etc.)
as for the plot it's just because seeing the last episode of the pacific made me want for more. for those who haven't seen it, the last episode follows the surviving members of the company getting back to the normal day to day life of a civilian, struggling with finding a job and dealing with ptsd and the such.
i thought a tv series would have been made by now so i thought i might ask.

hi guys, recently i finished watching the pacific (after watching saving private ryan and band of brothers) and whilst i'm waiting for mad men to come back with it's last season :'( i'm in a 40s-50s era set craving, do you have any recommendations?
i was hoping for something following a ww2 soldier after he goes back to the daily life before the war.
