Basically I've been using giveaways to try and gain some exposure for my channel. That's doing okay but I need to be getting more people actually looking at my channel and not just posting thnx...so I wanted to know what people thought about the idea of trading games for x amount of subs? It cuts out the whole issue with someone taking the time to check out the channel only for someone who didnt even bother posting thnx to win instead. But conversely...is it a bit merciless? Does it feel like bribary at all? I upload daily and such but I'm not sure where to go from here.

U can still do seperate GAs. for like subscribers appresiation and/or new subs...you should work it. I think that if you pay attention to your channel, people will join. I think its all about doing your thing and be happy about it^^

If I was you, I'd keep giving away games as normal to everyone, but say something like "When I reach X amount of subs, I'll giveaway this game."

I used to be subbed to a channel that would do giveaways to a random commenter on the video who answered a question about the video correctly.. Thereby forcing at least the first few to watch the vid.

You can't force people to like your channel if they don't like it, or have no interest. Offering people a chance to win game doesn't earn you their interest in your channel, giveaways and youtube videos are completely different thing.

What I would recommend is to improve your channel and don't advertise it, work on improving your channel rather than advertising, don't worry about views, likes or subs, think about what people like and upload those videos, it's a hard thing, but important.

Popularity and subs will come itself if your channel is good enough, when it catches their attention and they appreciate your work.

This is the best thing I could recommend you, because personally I wouldn't rely on tricks and advertisements, it's wrong thing to do if your channel isn't good enough. You should only advertise your channel if people actually like it and your videos catch their attention, this way you'll always gain likes and subs, depending on how much you advertise and how much people check it out of your advertisements.

What I'm basically trying to say is that even if you show your channel to the whole world and there's no videos or videos which they have no interest in, they'll just skip it and pay no attention, so what I'm recommending is to work on your channel and upload videos which people like.

P.S So I checked your channel and subscribed just to help you, though to be really honest, I couldn't find anything else interesting than a horror game which you have in playlist, and some let's play list, not to mention that some of them aren't finished and are very short, so what I'd recommend is to upload more longer videos about horror and new games, AAA games greatly help, also use microphone and speak about stuff, doesn't matter as long as it's logical and at least half time about game, just like other popular youtubers do, you do really need to make a lot more playlists, especially walkthroughs and some more videos about random gaming maybe, just check out how other popular youtubers do and try to learn from them. For now don't worry about views and subs, just work towards improving your channel. And always remember it is important to finish game, don't stop recording and uploading mid game.

Good luck!

I have answers for some of those.

Short videos: Australian internet :c I can handle a maximum of 20 minutes and an average best of 15. I usually reserve 20 minutes for videos I don't need to edit, like full solo Let's Plays. For sure I can do more of those.

Abrupt endings: Yeah, i guess since I get very paranoid about things I went for a Vinesauce cut-from-stream vibe so I wouldn't embarrass myself by putting in an intro in the case I wasn't good enough to sound professional without just sounding like a wanker. But enough people have gone HEY BRO WHERE DA INTRO so starting today I'll start bookending my videos with intros and outros. I've also hired an animator to do some work for me.

Horror: I really wish I could but there are so few horror games in my library...I suppose I could do Layers of Fear to start off with.

Playlists: So you prefer lots of big playlists? I was worried I was doing too many.

Full Let's Plays: Should I just go and finish a full one rather than try to do lots of small ones? I was thinking short funnies brought crowds better early on, so that they'd WANT to stick around for a big one...what I can do is finish Shadow Warrior and play something else at the same time and alternate between the two.

AAA Games: Is there anything in my library you'd recommend? I'm actually not sure what's currently popular. I only started PC gaming a month ago. If it's left up to me I'd probably end up doing the more obscure gems that I pick out, like Shadow Warrior. Ofc I'll be doing a full playthrough of Doom when that's out. My whole life has been leading up to it. But is there anything to do right now? I get limited time to record so I try and maximise my output efficiently. Time management and all that.

But thanks for the tips. I guess I'll just keep adding content and working on my commentary. I really need to like hire a content advisor or market researcher though lmao.

Hmm, you're doing things fine, however first you need to upload more videos, with popular games, and also you must be talkative, it attracks even more attention, for example imagine you're bored, and you decide to watch any popular game which you're soon going to buy, or want, or simply can't buy it but you admire that game, and want to see watch other people's experience, you go to youtube and seek videos about it, you find video and start watching, but it's quiet, only gameplay, it's kinda boring. So you need to use your mic alot and besides game, entertain people with your ideas, and stuff while also playing and talking about game, like other youtubers do.

Now second, I checked your library and here's list of games I would recommend pushing alot.

Remember, there are many kinds of games, some are story based, simply beat it then move onto another game, those games are good, but they're supposed to be AAA, or newly released, playing old ones won't attract much attention as simply it's old and many have it or have seen it.

If you want ALOT attention, buy AAA/Newly released games, as many people simply can't play it due to.. many reasons, such as they don't have strong enough PC, or simply want to enjoy it with other people by watching in youtube, or they just can't afford it, you must take those advantages for your own benefit, you need money to buy new games, to push your channel beyond, and a strong PC enough to play everything fine.

So here are games I would recommend from your library, but keep in mind that I won't put it in order. I'll choose from your All Games, #1 to last.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Old but still, amazing.
Fallout: New Vegas Same as skyrim.
Fallout 4 Ooo... this one, is rocket. You must push this one hard as hell, since it's new, and one of the most wanted games. I'm sure it'll gain a lot of views.

PAYDAY 2 This one is good for a long term going, play with friends and also upload videos, with them, it'll not only attract viewers, but also record your funniest moments maybe and will keep some memory.

ARK: Survival Evolved This is one of the most wanted games currently, after Fallout 4, you should definitely push this as well.
There's also Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Multiplayer however, it's old, so I suppose not much people will take bait.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege You should upload whole playthrough of this.

Also remember, all those games with singleplayer, are must-record-and-upload, as they're new, and most people will be interested in it's story, gameplay and etc.

Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition This is very good too.
METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES

Slender: The Arrival And this would be good horror.
Mad Max A very good game to upload whole playthrough.
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN Oo... this one is as welll must-record-and-upload.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent This, brilliant horror game.
SOMA A game with brilliant story, and recently one of the most wanted horror games AFAIK.
The Talos Principle This as well, one of the most wanted games recently, definitely worth uploading a playthrough.

Well, I guess that's all, I might've missed some more amazing games, but those are definitely must-record-and-upload, also I'm amazed you have such awesome games and put ridiculously low amount of hours in, you should definitely taste those masterpieces.

Good luck with your channel, and hope this helps!

My PC is definitely powerful enough. I'm out of money right now though haha. I'm still doing my Shadow Warrior and Ben and Ed playthroughs so when I'm finished those (or at least Shadow Warrior) I'll start another. FO4 is probably a good idea since the DLC is out. Ark I'm going to do a weekly upload starting this week (the first in the series is uploaded already). If I can get into a match I'd love to do a hard TerroHunt on Siege but the servers are pretty bleh. I might need a friend or two and just play private match. MGSV would be a disaster, but at least a funny one. I have the FPS mod installed on GZ, would that matter?

I'm uploading the first Ben and Ed in an hour or so, and it's my first video with an intro. My anxiety is the main cause behind not enough speaking but I think I managed to do a little better in this one. I'll link you when it's up (though if you subbed you'll probably know about it anyway).

That's good, keep it going, you're halfway there if you're determined enough!

I wouldn't recommend Shadow Warrior btw, it doesn't seem to be really popular, you have much better games on your account, however if you've already started it then it's worth to finish. Same goes for Ben and Ed.

FO4 is probably best choice after, and Ark would be nice, especially with friend or friends. Multiplayer games are fun to play with positive friends, don't pick friends who doesn't have mic, or doesn't speak, or give you ideas to keep going, it's okay to play with those, but have at least another friend who's talkative.

It's okay about mod. Also don't worry about not speaking alot, just be your natural self, things will come, one second you may have nothing to speak, but then hundreds of ideas may hit your head, so don't get confused and play determined/motivated but be yourself. Just like other youtubers do, also you can google or check youtube for more ideas, I'm not really especially good with this kind of stuff, because I'm not really into youtube for now.

Anyways, hope this helps, gl!

P.S You can use teamspeak 3 software, I used this one long ago, doesn't need much performance and works perfectly fine, also easy to use.

Shadow Warrior, Wolfenstein and Doom are my favourite games, and two of them having sequels coming out soon, so I'm doing them regardless haha. I'll record some FO4 tomorrow.

Here's my Ben and Ed with intro vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvbcbYy7ieQ

idk if I should use that intro again though (like make it the same each time)? I tend to hate Youtubers that develop phrases they use too much (Hello Everyone/What's going guys/Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwhat's up guys it's ya boy/I'm super dooper pooper scooper excited, chyes, that's right/etc.). I don't reeeeallly want to be one of THOSE guys...

Nice, looks good!

Haha, don't worry about developing such habits or phrases, it's okay.

Anyway being strange or having strange phrases/habits that's what makes you unique, so it's okay.

Also advice, there were moments where your voice could be barely heard because of game music, so in future make sure your voice is always easily heard, by reducing game sounds or music. Also generally, I would recommend talking more naturally, I mean sometimes it's hard to hear your voice, even while in menu, so either increase your mic sound or speak more louder, because to hear you, we have to increase our volumes above normal, which also increases game sound/music you know.

Sorry my English isn't really good enough to explain things more properly, but well, hope this helps :)

Actually the game was at 15% volume and was still too loud. I didn't want to re-record but I'm going to turn it to 5% next time..

You trying to lure subs by GAs is similar to a rich man trying to please a gold digger. She gonna love the Benjamins more than the man.

Yeah, that's the impression I was getting. I haven't worked with youtube before. Usually websites and such. Youtube is different.

Then you could do gleam.io giveaways. The compulsory entry could be to subscribe to your channel and then some more entries by following you on twitch and such. I can't think of a better idea than that. :/
