So i have budget to build a PC with the following specifications:

Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M LX/BR AM3/AM3

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz Piledriver FD6300WMHKBOX Six Core 14MB AM3

Memory: DDR3 Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 8GB 1600MHz

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R7 370 2GB DUAL-X OC 256Bit GDDR5 C/HDMI PCI-EXP

Will it be better than The current consoles? How better will it be? (its a bit cheaper buying a Xbox one)

Thank you all! :D

Are you sure you wouldn't prefer a PS4 over an X1?

Most computer which can run games decently will be better than a console due to:

  1. Multi-purpose (you don't have to use it only for gaming all the time)
  2. Mods!
  3. Cheaper games (generally)
  4. Easy to repair if it every breaks
  5. Easy to upgrade in the future
  6. No limits, really. You want 120 FPS at maximum in Skyrim with a crapload of mods and 1080p? If you got the money to upgrade, you can.

To answer your question, yes. That build will be better than a console, as far as I know.

Okay, I'm done advertising the greatness of owning a computer. Jbond, over'n'out.

I never owned a console (except a SNES) and the price almost turned me to the dark side, but it's a relief that i can still play on a PC knowing its the best option XD

you will get decent performance with this build - at least for casual gaming

Nope, I have a lower build, Dual Graphics Radeon R7 265, and it can run GTA 5 at max settings, no bumps.

It'll definitely perform better than a console. It's better because of all the reasons jbondguy specified, along with no paid online, more customization and more choice.

Quick question though: wherever you're buying from, is the R7 370 cheaper than the R9 270X?

r9 270x is $36 more, is it worth it changing the order? :P

On paper it performs a little bit better at most tasks. However, I don't know how much $36 is worth to you. I recommend watching comparisons on YouTube or reading some to see if it's worth it for you.

one last question i promisse! (and i swear i googled a lot and couldn't find lol) the r9 380 has TDP at 190W compared to 110W from r7 370. Does it means it'll heat too much and i need an extra cooling system for the build?

Thank you very much for all your help :D

Not to that extent, it'll only mean you might need a better PSU (a 550W 80+ rated one should be enough). These videos show the amount of heat the card could create.

Consoles wouldn't have to exist nowadays. They existed because they were focused into gaming when PCs were oriented to work and hadn't enough hardware. Today consoles exist just because of exclusive games, downgrades, bad ports and releasing games months later..

I disagree. Of course, consoles hold back the evolution of graphics among other things, but it's good having one because you make sure you'll be able to play your games for 5-10 years. I prefer gaming on my PC, but still, no one can deny that consoles are meant for "lazy" people who just don't want to mess around for hours with different settings, installing games, etc.

Well, Steam has achieved you don't have to worry with installing games at least. Settings are unavoidable: each PC is different; all XBone are the same (although auto-settings work in most cases). But yes, it is a good point for consoles.
