On that note, why don't they release games everywhere at the same time?

This.

I really don't understand it when it comes to digital games. It really frustrates me.

Not to mention they already had Pre-downloads so overloading servers isn't a problem.

It might be updating to newer versions and/or applying security updates. Windows Update does this hilarious thing where if you had a .NET framework that is a couple versions old, it will download all of one version, have you restart, then give you the next version's updates, but not all versions at once or allowing a later version to update all necessary files missing up until that version if prior versions are missing. So, that may be what is happening. When I first built this PC, I had to keep checking for the .NET framework after a good four restarts to keep getting the next version before I was up-to-date. Mere speculation, I could be entirely wrong.

Out of date is the notion that the rest of the planet are second-class citizens who don't get access to digitally-delivered goods on the same damn day.

Funny, because when games come out in Japan they tend to take 3 months up to a year to see a western release, if they ever do. Yet you're upset over a few hours/days? And of course the reason for that, as you so intelligently concluded, is because us Americans see the rest of the world as second-class citizens of...what? America? Interesting!

Please, do tell me more about how you really are anything but more of the same trash overwhelming the internet these days.

Always thought Japanese games getting late release was due to localization and translation.

And wow, you're worked up. Cool down.

Normally if game comes from japan it takes 3 to 12 months to come American and then 3 to 12 Months to come Europe... everything come first to america.. !!!

WARNING!!! SPOILERS BELOW!

Played for 4 hours so far. Excellent game! The overall difficulty is a bit higher than the first game, which is good in my book. Though I died like 3x to the first boss... all I had was a pistol >.>. The storyline is interesting enough thus far, although the initial starting scene's song is nowhere near as good as BL1's Ain't No Place For The Wicked, hehe.

The game looks a bit better overall than the first... although my FPS drops to a frustrating amount when I turn max settings on. If I tell it to use the recommended settings, it seems to run well. I've never had an issue with max graphics before, so that's a little odd. I've got an i5 2500k and an AMD Radeon HD 6950. (Note: This appears to be most likely be due to my PhysX setting initially being on high. After setting it to medium, FPS was smooth. Read below comments for details.)

The physics is a lot better and the driving is a little bit more realistic. You certainly can't one-shot kill anything via running it over anymore, heh.

The monsters, bandits included, are more diverse and more interesting than BL1 thus far IMO. The main town is 1000x more lively than any town in BL1, which I LOVE!

The character customization and vehicle customization is a lot better. It's obvious they created this new skin system so that they can release skins as minor DLC, which I don't have any issues with really.

I still haven't seen an SMG (I'm a level 9 assassin), and the only rifles I've gotten have either been grenade launchers, rocket launchers (yes, as an assault rifle), or, at best, burst fire. No semi automatic yet, which is meh.

The humor... oh the humor. So far, it's not done as well as BL1. The humor is often laid on a little too thick or seemingly not at all when compared to BL1. That being said, it's not "bad", just a little bit worse overall when compared specifically to BL1 (thus far, anyhow). It's still quite funny in many areas, but I feel like the humor is too forced sometimes - and yes, I'm still comparing this to BL1, which did have many anecdotes that felt a bit "forced".

Overall, I think this game is definitely worth my money, and I'm glad I got it. There are only two big issues: 1) Torchlight 2 comes out in a couple days and 2) I have to do WOOORK for my job. Important work. More important than gaming. Now if only I could convince myself that that means that I have to "stop" gaming. Hmm... wish me luck.

P.S. Tip to people w/ the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Installer...

If you already have this installed, it'll ask you to repair/remove it. Just close/cancel this window. BL2 will launch w/o issues. If you do repair it (unnecessary), it will ask you to restart. You don't need to in order to play BL2.

Something on Steam is currently bugged and asking me to install(repair/remove it) every single time I try to run BL2. I just uninstalled it instead of repairing it, and Steam is not bugging me about it anymore. You can download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

Cool, but this part worries me a bit:

"The game looks a bit better overall than the first... although my FPS drops to a frustrating amount when I turn max settings on. If I tell it to use the recommended settings, it seems to run well. I've never had an issue with max graphics before, so that's a little odd. I've got an i5 2500k and an AMD Radeon HD 6950."

Did you try running everything on max, but putting PhysX on low/off?

I played around with the settings, and currently just about everything is max or near max. One of the biggest changes I made was switching PhysX from High to Medium, and that did seem to help a lot. With it at medium, I'm able to play w/o FPS issues. There is no Off it seems; the lowest is Low.

My settings are currently:

Ambient Occlusion - On

Depth of Field - On

Anisotropic Filtering - 16x

Bullet Decals - High

Foliage Distance - Far

Texture Quality - High

Game Detail - High

View Distance - Ultra High

PhysX Effects - Medium

FXAA - On

Fullscreen Windowed Mode @ 1920x1080

I lowered my field of view from max [110 or 120 I think] to 90, although it didn't help my FPS at the time. I don't think I've reverted it back yet.

Figured it was PhysX, we don't get any GPU acceleration on AMD cards. Was worried it would turn out to be poorly optimized, but I'm fairly certain my 7970M can run it on high/max now.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah I'd just turn PhysX off completely on AMD cards and it'll run fine.
