Edit: My wishlist is showing this weird glitch. After some discussion the game dev (petey123567) has actually taken the time to post bellow explaining what caused it. Please ignore any defaming that takes place in the comments (my own remarks included), and possibly consider buying his game, which looks pretty cool, or download the free-to-play version he's provided.

On its store page, it says the free one is the demo, you still have to pay 11,24€ to get its full edition (or so I understand). You trickster volvo you~

Not steams fault, its the wording the game devs used when they made their page.

It should be
"Play Cannon Brawl Demo"

You should go bug them about that in their discussion area and ask them to change that bit as its confusing.

And I do agree it is confusing if you miss the part about it being a demo under it.

Already on the bugging them part. (I went back and edited my post to reflect where the fault really seems to lie.)

That's not dev's fault, Steam's system did that.

I'm pretty sure it is the dev's doing. He's set it up so that the demo appears on wishlists (hence my wishlist saying the game is free when it demonstrably is not). There's some discussion of this in the forum.

If you look here for example, you can see the "Download demo" button on the right side. That's how you're supposed to put demo on Steam. Now all sites link to this game as €20 with 100% discount.

And here are 3 more how don't know how to add games and demos to Steam (same problem as game above)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/214420/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/351140/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/365070/

(impossible to add full game to wishlist...)

This is because those games are free to play. Anything you see below is DLC or some other things like that.

The first game is indeed free not sure about the others though

Right. What I wanted to say:
Demos are just another thing that runs on Valve logic, and is thus an inconsistent mess.
Compare:
XCOM and others have a "Download PC demo" link on the main store page
Akiba's Trip and others have a separate store page instead, with no link to the main page.

Also note that Free to Play titles label things differently as well.

Weirdness aside, I'm pretty sure in this case the Dev flagged the demo wrong when uploading it, as it's done as a regular store item with a price of 0. Wether that's on purpose or not, I have no idea.

Wow, I didn't even know Akiba's Trip has a demo at all.

Neither did I, until I opened up the demos page in the store and saw it at the top of the list

The two people who created this game are actually nice as fuck and gave it to me for free without me even asking...

Yeah? I don't know 'em myself. But perhaps, then, I need to take back what I said. It's just that presenting things this way seems intentionally misleading.

So it's genuinely F2P now? I hadn't picked up on that. If that's so, then why do they list a full version of the game and charge for it? I'll have to mess around with it and see.

If it is actually free that's cool. I'd be glad to find out. Have you played it much?

Yeah, I like the idea a lot. Perhaps now that I understand what's what I'll go figure out how to play the free version.

Hey, I'm the dev ("the jerk"). Here's the deal:

  • We wanted to make a demo version where demo players can play against full game players, like League of Legends. Cannon Brawl is similar in that the starter set of buildings is arguably as competitive as any set of buildings. This has the benefit of increasing the number of opponents for everyone. Yay.

  • We started out going down the official demo path and our Valve representative said it was possible to link the matchmaking between demo and full game. Great. Looks like we can do the LoL style thing and it'll work nicely with the store.

  • As we finish the process, our representative says that she was mistaken, that it's actually not possible to link the matching with an official demo. The only way to link the matchmaking is to make it a free version, with a dlc unlock for the full game.

  • So that sounds fine to me, we go down that path and it's launched. However issue after weird issue keeps coming up with the steam store and we work with Valve to get them fixed. Now this latest issue is that our price is displayed strangely and people can't add the full game to their wishlist.

  • I again contact Valve and they say nothing can be done for these latest issues except switching to a regular demo (which de-links matchmaking).

Which brings us to today. I wish as much as anyone there weren't all these weird issues with it. And we've run sales in the past (with this free version thing) and the price did not display strangely like you have in your screenshot as far as I know. Valve can and does changes things silently we have no way of knowing until it blows up.

At this point, clearly our goal of linked matchmaking is not worth the cost in confusing you guys and perhaps more unforeseen issues with the steam store. Since there's no way to fix it through Valve/Steam without just making it a completely separate demo, that's what we're starting to do now.

tl;dr: We tried to do League of Legends style free/demo/game thing. I'm as confused as you about the store. We'll be reverting to a normal demo.

Heh I don't think you're a jerk. I do think that everyone is confused about what was going on even though I understood what you were trying to explain on the steam discussion. Thanks for coming here and trying to clear things up.

Thank you for the long reply. That makes a lot of sense.

I'm genuinely sorry if I caused you additional headache. Originally I just meant this to be funny and said Steam was a jerk, but was promptly told you were to blame. I didn't mean any personal insult by it, I just plugged you into the existing post. I shouldn't have. I've edited the above accordingly.

I don't understand why people are confused, the store page clearly says it is a demo. Thanks for being awesome and for coming here to make this post <3

Anybody who likes Worms, or other artillery style games should check this one out. It's really cool. Especially fun for local multiplayer.
