Question about Keys

Guys, I was wondering if there is a sure short way to check if the game that you are purchasing from steam is Region Restricted or a ROW iteration.
I know on some games Valve clearly mentions that its region restricted, but how to check the other games whether they are ROW or Region restricted?

You can't. Therefore, it would be wise to only purchase keys from trusted sources which clearly state region restrictions.

Oh, I just realized that you were asking about Steam GIFTS not keys. I'm not sure if SteamDB could help, but as far as I know, Steam will tell you when something is region locked. I don't know much about that stuff, so yeah. You can always request a refund if the gift is region restricted. :P

I was thinking from a GA perspective. If the winner is not able to activate the gift it would be a waste

Usually, the winner should send it back in that case. Of course, there IS a risk that they won't...
I'm afraid I am not knowledgeable about this enough to help. I'll leave this to the experts. :P

You could contact support and have it converted into a locked GA. If the winner agrees.

I've never tried that, but they can change the GA game, so maybe they can change this as well

Get HB packages or Groupees bundles and do give away. Works fine for me from India :)

HB is good so far, but as you know they are restricting there keys as well nowadays. Groupees is still an option but only for Indie games

I think if you're playing in $ in Humble bundle. You ought to get ROW games. Why should I residing in India not get any price cuts? :/

Valve placed blanket locks on all games purchased from Steam if bought from a region locked area. So if you live in SEA for example, all games will have a SEA lock to them, regardless of the dev/publisher.

India is its own region now. So anything you buy from Steam within India is locked to that country only (I believe SG supports this lock when creating a giveaway). It sucks, but this blanket locking came about around a year ago :/.

When it comes to Steam keys (games sold via 3rd party retailer) it is hit and miss really. Steamdb will tell you if the devs/publishers have generated any keys that are region locked but it is up to the store to tell you if the keys they are selling are locked or not. So if you see a game being sold on a store with regional pricing but Steamdb only shows one type of key being generated, that means it is not locked. However, if you see that the generated multiple type of keys, each with a different region lock, then you can assume that the key you are about to purchase is region locked.

Install Enhanced Steam, and it'll display a warning if there are region-specific versions of a game for off-site key purchases.
But if you buy on Steam and you live in a locked region, everything will be locked.

I have enhanced steam installed. India is a newer region added for local pricing, so situation is still a little murky.

Buddy first let me clear one misconception its not
Paji -Paji means, cheater, untrustworthy its
Bhaji - Bhaa or Bhra- (Brother) Ji (used for respect)
back to topic: As I said that I know steam does show on some games that they are region restricted (EMEA region) but on some it doesn't show that, so should we consider them ROW by default or is their a sure shot way to check the same.

And u cannot consider it row , and i dont know any other way of cheching it before purchase, i can suggest some sites where you can buy row keys : greenmangaming. Com hrk and g2a is also popular there days.

G2A and HRK are shitty sites at best. GMG is good but its again $ and we can't benefit from the new price policy. Its a dilemma I know, Something that we need to deal with, no way around it.
